You can get a long bed OR. The problem is how long are you willing to wait for it. My dealer told me 5 months for a OR long bed with PT and JBL

The ORLB trucks are sent to Canada in AC configuration only. We don't get the DCOR versions SB or LB.

The TRD sport comes with a Limited Slip Diff AFAIK.

I went with the TRD Sport DCLB. The hood scoop is about the silliest thing ever put on a vehicle. It would be different if it had a purpose.

My truck arrives in 6 more sleeps!

Sports no longer come with bilsteins but instead, Hitachis, another cheap out on Toyotas part.

I owned a gen1 access cab OR in AZ and never once pushed the diff. lock. To be honest I'm not sure if it worked or not. I did use 4w hi a lot.

I bought the DCLB Sport. Mostly because that is what they had in stock. If they would have had the OR instead I probably would have that. You will love what you get regardless.

I now live in CO and I too run rivers and have dogs. It is the perfect rig.

Oh, and I concur...the scoop is a waste.

I test drove a white Sport and a Infero Off Road. I really liked the feel of the sport but the off road drove well too. The off road was nice but it had $3,500 in options that I didn't want or need.

I bought the white sport last Friday and honestly I really like the look of the scoop and the painted to match fenders. I'll never go off roading so I'm not missing anything in that department.

I couldn't be happier with my truck. This is my first Tacoma and I absolutely love it. I feel that I made the right choice for my needs, wants and price.

What ever you go with you will love.

What makes the Hitachis shocks cheap? Are they not capable? Your opinion because you don't see Hitachis shocks advertised on your favourite Off Road rag or what?

For reference...I sold a 2002 DC TRD Off Road package everything except leather with 173k miles in excellent condition for $12300.00 in Florida. IMO The 2016 Off Road will hold it's value due to crawl control and Multi Terrain and all the other standard options on the truck. These options will stand the test for use. My pet peeves with the 2nd and 3rd generations is the lack of a real bumpers. I think the painted fender trim pieces on a 4x4 look nice, but will end up scratched etc. if they get bumped. Love the black for durability and use. Bought a 2016 Silver DC OR currently at 600 miles. Shifting smoother as everything breaks in. This is my 4th Toyota...hard to beat for low cost ownership and reliability. Started with a 1983 Landcruiser FJ60, 92 Ext Cab, 02 DC all 4x4. Top dollar on resale for all 3. No problem selling any of them. My .02 cents...the OR.

Both trucks are capable off road rigs. The off road will be more capable, but only if you need the locker. Unless you crawl up rock faces or have to crawl over several large downed trees piled up in the road the sport will do just fine.

If unfamiliar with the locker I would search this site to read up about it.

I too was torn, I went back and forth on which one to get. Even changed my order a few times. Ending up going with a sport due to lack of dealer inventory.

I have complaints about both, mostly cosmetic.

Off road: unpainted flares, like a cheap ford ranger from the 80's.

Sport: no locker, which I would never need. Hitachi shocks, which I will eventually change.

I do go off road, but mostly to fishing and hunting spots. My 4 wheel drive will be used mostly in the snow.

Both great trucks that are very capable in stock configuration.

If looking for a short bed you shouldn't have to wait long. Longbed sport is a considerable wait, offroad longbed.....well your patience will be tested. These are far and few between at this time.

Then you have the only one built. They haven't included real hardware LSDs since 2010 or so... Maybe earlier. OR has a locker and all other options are ABS based pseudo limited slip functions.

Off Road all day and Wet Okole seat covers. They're $$$ for seat covers but their reputation speaks for itself. Waterproof neoprene and available in many colors and patterns. I have a set of fronts and backs on order currently.

They do make an OR with MT ... for the Canadians.

It is mind-boggling how poorly Toyota Corp. has segmented its market with the third generation Tacoma. The decision not to offer the long-bed OR with manual is akin to BMW one day saying that its M-cars are going to have front-wheel drive or four-cylinder Boxer engines. Totally alienates the core enthusiast segment and dilutes the brand.

I have a TRD Sport and the sun reflects off of the hood scoop and blinds you.

How do you even try me on this? Get with the program.

"All Tacoma 4x4 models are equipped with 4WDemand part-time 4WD with an electronically controlled transfer case and Automatic Limited Slip Differential (Auto LSD)."

That is directly from the website… not to mention i already told you I used it, asshat… should've been your first clue. You are actually messing with someone's choice of truck, here.

Sorry to burst your bubble Brendan, but VetteVert is 100% accurate with his statement (except perhaps the year he mentioned). The Auto LSD in the Tacomas consists of computer controlled braking to the slipping wheel and not a mechanical limited slipper inside the differential. However, this, in my opinion, is not necessarily a bad thing. Mechanical LSD's have clutches, and clutches wear out. As long as your brakes are in proper working order and your ABS is functioning, the Toyota Auto LSD should provide a lifetime of service. (I burned the clutches out in my F250 mechanical LSD in 18 mo. and it became ineffective). And a side note, the Auto LSD feature is very good at doing what it is intended to do, plus if needed, you can limit it with the push of a button, or, turn it off completely.

I have a DCSB.OR arriving within the next week. I had gone through the same TRD sport VS OR decision making process. I am very happy I chose the OR as it has several features I will seldom use but when I need them they will be valued i.e. Locker, crawl, rtc. Both TRD have creature comforts of push button start and NAV that I never truly need but like to use on a daily basis. Overall I feel it was a small % higher cost which will make it that much more convenient and also provide better resale 8-10 years down the road.

I think the silliest thing is the cheap looking decals on the rear of truck (all years, all makes). I like the scoop because without it the sheet metal is too flimsy.

Asshat, huh. Just trying to keep some from being mislead. I'm sorry if you don't understand the difference or the subject at hand. I would also correct the following posts about price differences since the obvious answer is posted in a sticky at the top.... But I'm out. Continue to resort to name calling when you don't understand.
