Thoughts on 37s

Imagine this but bigger by 2.5"

 

I don't see where that 1.25" on each side will fit but looking forward on seeing how it turns out

 

You guys know about how many hours of labor to expect to clearance the firewall for 37's?

 

I had about 20 hours in mine

 

I didn't do it in one day but spent about 5 half days to do it all. Took a while to take out the carpet, firewall insulation, lower dash, fuse box and electrical. Few half days to cut the firewall and weld it and a couple half days for the body mount chop

Gunna have to find someone here in NC that won't charge an arm and a leg to do the firewall! Body mount is already relocated

 

I did it myself, it you can weld and use a grinder... it's just measure 20 times start cutting a little measure another 20 times and when you think you have it figured out cut it off. I have pix on here somewhere

Well sorry for the long wait on this... I will say this right up front that this was not easy. It took me a week to do, and I was stressed nearly the whole time.

 

removing the fenders made getting to everything easier. Though remembering where all the bolts go was fun. After that I had to expose the pinch welds that I had already beaten down. as you can see I've already relocated the body mount, and cut once before.

 

I tried the best I could to open everything up by drilling out the pinch welds before i cut.

 

I used small self tappers to hold things in place until I was ready to start welding

 

Heres a picture from the other side. My coat shielding the sparks from entering my cab.

 

I did a lot of relief cuts and folded the sheetmetal back. I tried using as much of the original metal as I could before filling back in with 16g metal

 

Slow and steady... The welding of this stuff flat sucks!! Not to mention the fire hazard in the cab. I didn't take any pictures of the inside but removing the carpet, lower dash and and as much wiring as possible is key. Even then I had two fire extinguishers ready for the worst. I had one small fire and after that I hated every minute of welding. I had a guy watching in the cab the whole time. Lots of wet towels on the floor made all the difference. Also having a air nozzle to help cool the welds kept things from getting to hot.

 

Looks good, one area I didn't go enough into is right at the body mount bold location for my 37's. This picture is with the factory mount chopped before the relocation so I couldn't go any deeper in at the bolt location area! At full lock I rub a little. I like how you tubbed at the top as well
