I had a hard time finding out how to get the horn to not sound everytime i unlocked and locked my 2014 Tacoma dbl cab. The dealership didn't know and wanted to charge me to figure it out. Many incorrect tacoma discussion boards later i found it on a toyota prius board.

    This worked for me:

Turn key to the On position
Turn key to the Off position
Reach down and press the button on the blue flashing alarm thing 3 times. The horn will honk twice.

Pretty sure you have an aftermarket alarm installed. My 2015 only has the red/orange security flashing on my dash. Also never had the horn go off for locking/unlocking my truck.

the Karr alarms are dealer installed aftermarket alarms that are typically forced upon the buyers.... i have one, it does the job, but in hindsight i shoulda told the dealer to shove it and pull the system completly out.

I am working with the people who were contracted out to install the KARR system on my truck for instructions / wiring diagram, as in the case of an emergency (out in the boonies) and the alarm refuses to let me start my truck... id like to know how to rip it out.

and yup, that is the same process i used to turn the horn honk off of my car.

I'll keep an eye on the thread for any other karr system info, thanks.
I had trouble finding stuff which is why i made sure to put "karr"in the title. Tons of stuff on programming standard toyotas but not much on karr. Love the truck but hated that damn horn. I live in the boonies so i am interested in complete removal as well.

^this. I got suckered into it myself. It actually hasn't been that bad. Gives of a bright blue flashing light all the time. Looks "intimidating". I did have one incident though where it went off randomly while driving on the freeway and wouldn't shut off. Super annoying

I refused their sales talk and they put a blank bypass plug into the port that gets mounted badly with screws in my new truck.
I'm interested in just what it takes to get rid of the wiring all together.

    Thanks @J&Ktaco4102 !
That horn has been bugging me (although not enough to research a way to turn it off). I go to work really early and my neighbor works nights and I would hate it if someones car alarm was honking just as I'm settling down to sleep. I've actually had good experiences with Karr alarms and had them in my last 3 trucks. I got lucky as a friend of my dad's is one of the contracted installers for Karr and I'd usually horse trade with him work for the alarm and install so I didn't have to go through the dealer. This will be my last one though since he moved out of state.

Glad to hear! I hope i end up liking the Karr system now that it is programmed. The dealership turned off the seat belt dinging ( another annoying feature) but couldn't figure out the horn, which was more important to me. Check out some other threads on seat belt alarm deactivation, you will probably like that too.

Yeah, I've seen that. There's a ton of workarounds for it, meh. I could pass on that. The only time it gets annoying is when I throw my gear on the passenger seat and it makes the sensors think I have a passenger, but I could live with it. I am constantly being reminded by other people why it's important to wear a seatbelt. There was an accident around here last month where this kid was speeding on the FWY, rolled his car and he was ejected from the vehicle. Died on the scene and his body ended up on the FWY exit sign (about 20 feet above the FWY). Fire had to get a ladder up there to bring him down, but he was hanging there for a while before they could get out there. Check it out:

Good point. I was hesitant about turning it off for reasons like that. I'm good about remembering to buckle though. The flashing light on the dash reminds me just as good in a less annoying way but nowadays it does seem like most people don't look at the dash (particularly the speedometer).

I live on a farm and constantly get in and out while doing work, traveling at super low speeds, on grass.

Definitely shouldn't cut it off unless you have a unique reason and a good memory (for passengers too).

i went in the ECU to turn off the seatbelt chime....

i NEVER drive on the roads without the belt on, its been engrained in my since i was born to put a seatbelt on.

But here n there (like at my buddies condo complex) ill get out of the truck to open the gate, then get back in the truck to drive the half mile at less 15 mph and putting the seatbelt on is pointless. Its nice not to have it scream at me.

Thank you so much for this! My daughter was playing in my truck pressing buttons over the weekend after I turned it off, and apparently turned ON the horn honk. It was annoying the shit out of me.
Now I have it turned off and will not be embarrassed every time I lock and unlock my truck.
