I've already been researching this subject for quite some time. It will really be determined by what you will require your winch to do for you. I have listed several below that have peeked my interest but I'm sure I will go with something more than I need, just because......Well look at my screen name, lol.

    Bulldog Winches
    Engo Winches
    Kodiak Winches
    Superwinch
    T-Max Winches
    Mile Marker Winches
    Rugged Ridge Winches
    TJM Winches
    Ramsey Winches

Go read that winch showdown article. Narrows it down to about 3.

Superwinch, Mile Marker or Warn. Those are the ones that I'm leaning to.

It's a great review but leaves some key players out. Check it out though. It will give you some insight as to what to look for when purchasing a winch.

Don't get stuck and you won't need a winch

I got the Smittybilt 8k and then switched the line out for synthetic. I've used it for vehicle recovery of myself/others about 5 times but I lost track of how much crap I've moved with it clearing trails and land. I think I've had it for 3 years now and its still kicking. I would suggest going with the 10k though, I think that's the next size up. Get that with syncthic line and a good recovery kit and you'll be able to get out of 99% of situations....unless you pull a Dennis

Good idea! I really need to run cables to my rear so I can use my cradled winch in the back as well.

Dont forget smittybilt! Also you can go crazy fancy and get one of those ComeUp winches. BoxRocket did a nice review on them, they're about as expensive as Warns I believe.

Didn't mean to leave Smith built off the list, we had just already talked about then. Those ComeUp winches are supposed to be bad ads. I forgot about those.

Ha its all good, just keeping the playing field open. Yeah they're supposed to be pretty much everything proof, supposedly it would have still been kicking even if it had taken a dive with Gold digger @357sig
