They are right. Dylan just called me and said its not a big deal. But he wants me to get the front diff mounted to make sure the motor will clear. This is going to be interesting. Thanks Andy. Plus it looks like I'll have to move the transmission crossmember too.

I was gonna say, the trans from a 4x4 3rz and the trans from a 4x4 5vz would mount the same place would they not? Drive shafts are the same I bet.... so why not swing the motor and trans in, line up the trans with the cross member and then see where your engine mounts line up at?

If the 4x4 3rz and 5vz tranny are the same I don't know. But the 2wd 3rz and the 4x4 5vz tranny are not the same length where the mount lines up.
Dylan mention to me that the cross member had to be moved. When the motor was in the engine bay I had the transmission bolted to the motor and the transmission mount was about 6" forward of the crossmember. So I'm assuming the cross member needs to move forward. You kind of need to see it to know exactly what I'm talking about. Dylan said to me to get the diff mounted then he'll come over and check it out and go from there. I think I might have to get both drive shafts to mock things up too. to make sure everything is going to line up before I weld any new motor mounts on.

Is it because it's a pre runner frame? This is wayyy yyyyy too much work. Easier to buy a damn 4x4 v6....

I hear you buddy. And your probably right. But that route is already came and gone. Now it's time to push forward. Im a kind of person where no matter how hard the work is I keep moving forward. I guess it's the Marine in me. If the marine corps was easy I would of never done it. It's just who I am. This is nothing negative toward you it's just a insight about me. I do respect what you have to say.

About the prerunner frame I figure it was identical to the 4x4. Now I'm realizing it's not. So now it's just figuring it out. Hopefully it works out in the end. Good thing I can fab and weld.

The plan is to cut the motor mounts off. Make new ones and buy the parts need to connect the drive train from front to rear. With the help of Dylan and Tim get everything aligned and weld in all mounts needed.

So it's for sure the motor mounts that are off and not the frame cross member?
Is it the correct oil pan for the 4x4 Tacoma? or are they all the same?
I can understand the rear cross member being different between between trannies and 4x2/4x4. But the front cross member and motor mounts I would think would be the same to streamline production since both styles of truck are basically the same with options for v6 or 4 banger. Most vehicles in my experience are designed around a v8/v6 and then use odd shaped mounts to set a straight 6 or 4 cylinder.

Have you tried to set the engine alone without the transmission?

That's the next thing. When I remove the tranny from the block I'll set it in and double check. Now if the mounts on the block it's self are off. I can't say for a 100 percent. The motor did come with the mounts already connected to it plus I found some interesting information on the mounts. A company offers conversion plates for the mounts but I don't trust the design. Looks weak. Now to make sure the mounts on the block are for sure correct I would have to see a 3.4 and compare to what I have to make sure 100 percent.

I have a set of new in box stock mounts if you need them. Or I can measure them so you can compare with what you have.

Let me pull the motor and I'll take pics of the mounts on the block and post pics. When I get off work.

Thanks for the info. I have not got a gauge cluster. I'll keep that in mind. And I've been going through the wiring process with some other TW guys. I have no solid answers for wiring yet. When I do I'll post what needs to be done.

Been doing some home work and I remembered about a buddies truck that he stripped down to the frame before he built his LT truck. It's a 3.4L. Here's a comparison of the motor mounts. Both of his mounts are closer to center on the coil bucket. @steezemcqueen

This is an issue that would really stump me, do you have an idea of how to go forward from here?
