What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

My gas tank has been all smashed to hell for the last two years or so. Dropped it to make sure the pump was still at the bottom and to fix the gas gauge, but it has been fine since. I wouldn't bother replacing a dented tank.

Just don't know its exact capacity anymore

 

Haha I have the same issue. My fuel level sensor doesn't work anymore. So the only way I know how much gas I have left is with my scan gauge.

 

Well I fixed that. The float was hitting the baffle inside the tank, just had to bend stuff so there was no interference. It would drive me crazy not having a functioning gas gauge.

I was just saying I don't think my tank holds 18.5 gallons anymore.

 

Do you guys not have skid plates on the tank?

Nope. And with all my wheeling this year, only nicked it a few times on the front edge. It's pretty low on the list.

 

That's weird, mine came with a skid?

 

Not even a stock one Huh? I thought trds came with one. I have a stock one. Of course, it's tin foil but can't hurt I guess.

 

Oh, I don't consider that stock flimsy piece of metal a skid. It was destroyed in the same event that heavily dented the tank, and was scrapped a long time ago. Thought you were talking about real skids.

 

Either really. It's basica useless was just curious. I've thought about plating over it. But whatever. Not high on the list either.

 

I was thinking this as well. 3/16's all the way down.

 

So, got my front IFS skidrow skidplate on. Plan on making a belly pan one soon also. After skids. What would you guys recommend. Tires are less than a year old but 265/75s only. Planning to eventually updated front and rear suspension but not sure to do which first. My guess is the rear. This wont happened for awhile, but just seeing how much money I would need to save.

 

I do. But, like you said, it's pretty flimsy. As soon as I hit it, it just crushed right into the tank bending it.
