Is this a typo? $44,698 MSRP

Is this a TYPO? NO.
Ive seen this asking price.

 

Yea I am young... 23. Fresh out of college, etc. They knew exactly how much I made the minute they saw my Rank on my DOD ID. What's worse is after I threatened to leave after 7 hours (they took the keys and registration to my truck I was trading in, before I signed anything so I couldn't actually leave) they said "Only because we support the military, here's this deal"

I ended up paying 3500 down, 2500 on trade (LOWBALLED) and 468 a month lease to own. At the very least it's payments I could afford right now, they aren't exactly paying the Military the best these days... In 3 years when the Lease is up, I can trade up or ditch it, or refinance it, and actually attack what matters this time.

I will admit, I was more focused on the monthly payments, as even with a 780+ credit score, USAA could only get my payments on the loan down to 555 a month.

I am not fond of my salesman, he's also a 23 year old prick bastard who communicates worse than a pet rock, wont ever give a straight answer, beats around the bush and does shady shit to make you think he's working in your favor....


Maybe I was stupid... or maybe I have learned. Fool me once...


either way, I am getting a badass fully loaded TRD OR Taco with a 6 speed manual.

Yea, I was hoping this was a typo, but after seeing this I'm sure it's not.. $49k for a TRD OR...

 

This ia hunderd more than mine not to mention 10,000 mors than mine.... wtf is worng with this world or picture!

 

I walked in to my local dealer and checked out a TRD Offroad with the tech package. I don't even think it was a 4x4. The dealer added this extra next to the sticker....


After being there for 5 hours and almost going 4runner, I went to a non tech package Offroad DCSB. I probably overpaid too but not as much as this sticker. I'm going to end up keeping this til the 4th gen comes out in 10 years or so.

 

This is sickening!. For a $7133 mark up you could fly anywhere in the country to an honorable dealership and buy one for a fair price, drive it back, make a little vacation out of it and still pocket $5000
What is even more sad is that some poor soul will probably pay that

 

Live and learn man. That's all you can do. The first time I bought a new truck they fucked me over pretty good too. Learn from your mistakes and don't let them do this to you again. The last 3 new vehicles I have purchased were negotiated through the dealers' internet departments, my financing done through my credit union and I only set foot in the dealership to sign the papers and drive the car or truck home. I don't have 5+ hours to spend haggling with them. And even with that, I still had to make it clear to the finance guy that I didn't want any of the extra bullshit he was trying to tack on when it came time to sign the paperwork. Always review the sales order and make sure the numbers look right before you sign. NEVER let your guard down with these people. While there are a few genuinely good salespeople out there I feel that most are just there to get everything they can out of you. I truly hope the next time you buy a truck your experience is much better than this.

 

Yeah I know most stealerships around bases etc. have the pay scale figured out for military, that's another thing that pisses me off, every one with that knowledge realizes military doesn't make that much. But I guess that's what we all get when we raise our right hand. Anyway, it's true it's a learning experience for you, but do be sure to spread the word of the shady practices of this stealership and specific goons that you dealt with, thru ought your command ( I know some bases/commands have a list of stealerships to stay away from bc they're known for that bs ) and on here. That way others can learn from your situation, they'll always be young in experienced buyers coming up not knowing what you've learned, so you can help them. You could end up helping a lot of people thru this and saving them from the pitfall.

Good news like you said, you do have a sweet truck, also one that will hold it's value. So maybe you can somehow make up this hiccup down the road and it will pan out for your benefit.

My plan is to hopefully use this to my advantage to get a decent trade in for a 2018/19 TRD OR or Pro if they have it. By then I'll be looking at O-3 and will have more $$$ to be able to push around. At that point I'll finance and buy.

 

Which is new car buying tip #10 (or whatever number we're on):

Never buy a vehicle from any dealership within 20 miles of a military base.

 

Lol waste of money. All you need is a wet wash cloth style towel to put over the module. It workks. Ive seen it.

 

Just imagine how a fresh boot enlisted would be feeling, you know their pay is stupid compared to an O. That'd be like half their base pay pretty much.
