Does everyone with full Nav have the premium package? I ask because I have the TRD Sport, without the premium package, and I have the "Navigation" App, which will show me the map, but it won't allow me to search Points of Interest or enter addresses, etc. The only thing I can do is press on the screen to set a destination or my "home", so it has very limited functionality.

Try using the Scout app on your phone.

Where are you located? All TRD's in the US come with the full navigation system with all apps, etc. The SR5 comes with a slightly dumbed down version that you need to use Scout.

    Not sure about Canada.

I'm in Colorado. Mine is definitely a dumbed down version, and I don't want to have to sync my cell phone with the truck.

So, how the heck do I update the Nav system....or do I have to go to the stealership?

Does it do this only when you're moving? Or when you are stopped too?

That's a good question....I have no idea whether it works when stopped. I'll have to try it.

It does work when not moving; I wonder whether you need a passenger to get it to operate when moving? We'll see.

So far I haven't seen anyone on the forum figure out how to disable the lockout when moving on a '16

Just use voice. It's quicker and doesn't matter if you're stopped or moving.

IT DOES NOT work even if there is a passenger. Truck can not be in drive... period. I understand the whole safety/lawsuit thing, but you would think a truck that is so technology based would have something like an safety over-ride switch where if there were someone in the passengers seat, it would allow full navigation controls. Works for the GD passengers seatbelt chime, lol.
And I have to play with the voice activation more, but if it isn't a very easy street name, the truck does not understand it and give you all kinds of crazy alternatives to pick from causing you to look at the screen far longer than simply inputting an address in the first place.
Im sure there is a fix someone will figure out..... fingers crossed.

My wife's car will let you select "passenger mode" when on nav when moving to put in addresses. To the people who just say use voice that doesn't always work. For example sometimes people will give me address with no city. And here where the city's are so intertwined (Denver, Littleton, or other close city) you can't use voice.

Do you need to know, or care?
Question, does the Toyota Nav have a 3D mode like the older version? I was going through the settings the other day and couldn't find one.
