Well I got bored today and figured I would change it up a bit...fa222b8a825d88c19ac31034e6cf0b5c_6522261f7e3e1617498f0e700ad41796363e39fb.jpgdbf3656c434d23e11f897ba7c8a3dec8_5fb757dad0bedf5a10aee389cc1ef28dc847efbf.jpg
Figured I would give rear steering a try and see how I like it

Front axle is on the way haha

I'm looking into buying a micro R/C car or truck and came across the Losi 1/24th 4x4 Micro Truggy. I'm just trying to get into R/C so I think 1/24th is the right scale for me and the truggy style seems right because I could take it on and offroad. I also looked at the short course truck and rally 1/24th scale (which are both the same price as the Truggy) and wanted to know what would be the best all around car for me. Just wanted to run it by you guys and see what you could tell me about it.

    gateway drug. :D
You'll want bigger eventually but the micro's are certainly a lot of fun.
I have a Losi Mini T, which is a little bigger, and is lot of fun. Not for dirt really but handles the street just fine.

At that small of scale there's not much off-roading to be done. If you must, then the truggy would be the one to go the furthest. A 1:10 scale would be your best best and most common. Whatever your local hobby shop stocks is what to get. Once you get your feet wet then you can branch out.

A good intro vehicle might be the Traxxas Stamped. I started with a nitro version of one back in the day. You can pick up an electric one fairly cheap and it will provide good off and on road capability.

Traxxas have a ton of really great products. I bought a Slash 4x4 and that's been a ton of fun. It's got a mode that allows you to learn too. I gave that a try and it was pretty helpful. The Stampede looks like a great truck too.

I have a question about transmitters...
My surface transmitter is an older Airtronics MX-3, which is working fine but am no longer able to find receivers for it. I know an upgrade will need to happen soon if I add more models. I'm also tired of the antenna..
I use Spektrum (DX8) for my flying models, and it works just fine but I don't necessarily have a brand loyalty as I know new stuff pops up all the time.

What are you guys using for surface transmitters and how do you like it? interested in 3-4 channels and digital programming features, ease of use. If it comes with a dictionary of operating instructions, or if it's easy to understand with minimal instruction.

I'm liking on Spektrum gear. This and Futuba is all my LHS carries. Rx for 4ch will run you $40-60 more or less. Depending on the options you want with it. But I'm on the lower end and am happy with simple. No comps, racing, nor even anyone else to roll with aside from my kids. These mean woods can be tough sometimes.

OMG, I went by the LHS today to look and see if there were any deals to be had. They have received six Traxxas X-MAXX and have one left-it's spoken for. $800. I so wanted to see it. I'm guessing they'll sell a few of them but after that, sales will slow down.

Just the box will take up a good chunk of a Tacoma truck bed. It's massive.

    Anyone have one yet?

I like Spektrum for surface and air transmitter. Futaba makes great stuff but damn it's spendy these days. BTW, screw Spektrum and their high priced recievers, I use HobbyKings "Orange" recievers in all my planes/helis and surface models. With zero issues with any of them.

Cool, that makes it easy as most lhs carry Spektrum. I'm familiar with HK Orange too.
    Thanks!

The new Spektrum isn't compatible with Orange anymore. You'll have to find an older Spektrum transmitter.

Then there's the Flysky stuff, too.

Since when? I'll admit I haven't bought a new radio in quite some time. Is Spektrum running something newer than DMSX?

Edit: After a quick search, it seems there is a newer version of Spektrum, however the best I can tell, it's all backwards compatible, or so says their website.

I have an older dx3e and it works with run of the mill Rx and orange Rx. So I ordered a new dx2e for a project and it won't work with anything I've got. 2 Spektrum Rx, a Trail Trekker that's Spek, or the Orange. Id hate to have wasted money on a 2ch TX. It was only $20 on a part out. But a new Rx are $30+.

Well, I broke down and ordered an Axial Bomber. Should be shipping out next week. Won't get to do anything with it until Christmas, but at least I'll have a new toy under the tree!

If that is all that broke, I am good with that! Running with the stock motor/setup to begin with, but just like the Tacoma, let the mods begin! Picked up a Lipo charger and 3S battery, so I can at least mess around with it..
