I bought a 2" level kit for the front of my 09 Tacoma base and am thinking about a 1.5" rear block too. I'm just not sure on if I will need new shocks or if I will be fine with just the block. I'm doing this just for looks basically as I don't do any serious off-roading. Thanks for any input.

You are in the wrong forum, this is for 1st gens, but generally people here will recommend against blocks. It's better to get the springs redone or do the add a leaf thing.

Yeah I realized that yesterday. I posted in the right forum afterwards but I'm gonna do the block plus new shocks all the way around too.

Haha, I know a lot of guys don't like blocks but like I said I'm only doing it for looks and eventually upgrading the shocks all the way around. The only time I'm in the woods is for hunting, fishing and camping.

Just take it easy when offroading or over bumps. It'll wear out your leafs quick. I would think you could get extended shocks. I have blocks (patiently trying to save for a proper lift and get rid of them though) and they clunk when topping out like going over speed bumps or rough terrain with oem type shocks. Plus my shocks are shot and that doesn't help. Mines in pretty bad shape. Po had the spacer/block lift installed. And it trashed the suspension. Going ome I think with new leafs. Of I were you, I'd see if it's possible to do shackles in the back instead of blocks. Pretty sure you can. That would be a ton better ride.

Believe 2nd gen shackles hang up not down.
