I had to force myself outside to work and normally I love playing in the flower beds. Tore out a couple bags full of dead and/or dying flowers and shrubs. And then sprayed for weeds. Someone tell the weeds it's almost December !

Well, 3 windows done. And 3 more to go. And it's a shower and off to late lunch/early dinner. Then evening church service.

This evening I'll be watching the Alabama/Auburn game....drinking coffee and eating fresh chocolate cake.

    'Tis the Season..........

    Pro tip:

For us folks in hurricane country. If you have the little studs around the windows for the shutter bolts. Hanging the lights is close to as easy as it gets.
And where I have the hinged shutters, I just use the shutters to attach the string lights.
However, it all still requires this old man with remants of broken ankles to go up the step ladder. :frusty:

We have the "Hinged shades" BUT also have the easterly winds that blow down the Riva'.....My wifes "bottle cap-air plant strings " can fly like wind sox at blusterly moments

I will decorate outside near the Cactus garden BUT the Riva' side will be all interior......Florida room-canal side will be hit or miss :p

I will come home from work and someone will :D and say surprise

    I hear that.
One year when we lived on the water, I put up thousands of the little white lights in the trees all around our house. Along the lakefront it was spectacular.
I started putting them up at Halloween and didn't finish taking them down 'till Easter.
I'm too old for that chit anymore.

Of course, my employer who lives in a mansion on the bay (no exaggeration, 20 thousand sq ft three story  ), has a crew do the Christmas lights around his 3+ acres of bay front.

I do hear that......We have down sized from the thousands of lights that decorated our Clermont home ( disadvantage to Florida one stories; wife knows a step ladder in the p/u puts you on the roof   )

Now it is just us :D and life is quieter during holidays..........We can go visit the "fast pace" or enjoy the Riva'

    Ditto my friend.
We've lived in super nice homes over the years. (I'm a licensed builder)
And we are about to sell our current place (3000 sq ft with guest house and 2 garages) on huge lot.
Just bought a DRHorton tract home. 1950 sq ft. Brand new. Small 65x135 lot. Wife picked the colors. They built it in 3 months.
She gets new car. New furniture.
    Simple. Happy.

Went for a run this morning to burn off all of the stuffed ham I ate for Thankgiving. Caught this beautiful sunrise. 1128150709.jpg

I hear you, 308 miles from the cabin to home. 6 hours with 2 stops for the dog and refuel once. Packed up in 45 minutes to leave, with the wall tent and wood stove, etc. used to take me ~4 hours or so just to load up so guess I shouldn't complain. Getting through the cities (Minneapolis\St. Paul) with 3.5 million people I can do without though I'm spoiled now living where I do and sometimes think that it is getting too big here.

My entry for the weekly photo contest this week which is Black and White. Boreal forest is the worlds largest biome and pretty much already black and white to begin with this time of year.

Yes there are ruff grouse down this trail and now any hot spotters know one of my locations. But if anyone in this thread wanted to hunt grouse be glad to take you here and more than a few other coverts. The road that splits this Forest Road isn't even on any maps, including Google earth. It does show up in Google aerial view of course.

Delayed flight out of Eugene, missed the connection in San Francisco had to fly to Ontario and rent a car home, 12 hours of fun, I would rather drive the 14 hours in the Taco. Still, it was good to be in Oregon for a week, had some light snow but beautiful days.
