You describe only a portion of a larger population that annoys you. There are a lot of outdoorsy people that drive Prii. Then there are a lot of people that aren't outdoorsy that drive lifted Jeeps and Tacomas and giant trucks that never see dirt. So what? The world is full of all kinds.

You forgot to add that they wear Uggs to go with the North Face crap, cause you know every outdoorsy person needs fancy fuzzy fake leather boots they don't want to get dirty

Not sure I can adequately express this from my phone...

I agree there are plenty of different people who drive electric/hybrid cars (and who drive 4x4s). Some of the most dedicated NASA drivers I've known would race their Teslas, not to mention electric cars own the drag strip. And I'm not one to judge 4x4 drivers. My 4runner explores many more parking lots than trails. And... My wife drives a hybrid. An Altima Hybrid, which looks just like a regular Altima except for a few tiny badges. It's really a nice car.

So I have no issue with electric or hybrid cars. I have issue with the Prius culture. Driving a car is not a badge of honor on how you're saving the world. My parents had a Prius briefly and I drove it a few times. It's a good, inexpensive, economy car. But I hated other Prius drivers approaching and saying things like, "doesn't it feel good to drive something that helps keep our planet healthy?" There are also the people who drive the Escalade/Tahoe hybrids with giant writing on the side, proclaiming their hybridness, yet still only get 20 mpg.

So yeah... Not all hybrid drivers are self-righteous, tools, but an awful lot of self-righteous, tree-hugging tools drive Priuses.

And one more thing before I get off my soapbox. Preggo moms and moms with newborns definitely deserve close parking.

Okay, I'm done. I'll find an ass hole who can't park to take a picture of...

LOL Seriously got a kick out of that. I was hearing Beavis and Buthead when I wrote that. Hard to express that essence by text only.

I live in a fairly left, outdoorsy, do good town and I can attest that the Subaru and Prius crowd have no idea how little they do for the environment. It's all feel good on my opinion.

We do have a guy on town with a bicycle with one of those seats on the back you can give rides in. Forget the technical name. Free taxi service on a bike.

We own a Prius because it gets crazy good mileage, is easy to maintain, drives well, and actually has a lower cost of ownership over the long run (when the price of oil goes back up). We had an '06 that got rear ended by an out of control driver doing 40mph while we were stopped, and no one in our car was hurt. The Prius was totaled, but we didn't have a scratch. For whatever reasons some people own them, it's a very reliable and easy to use car that gets stupid mileage. It ain't a dragster, but maybe that's a good thing too.

The sad thing is that, for its size, my wife can't park it straight to safe her life. I'd take pictures and show y'all if it wouldn't lead to divorce.

Bike def in the wrong...... Also some lifts/ramps operate from drivers seat, may not have even know it was that close. In any case I own a bike and I can't stand ppl that own a bike and think they can just make up their own spots! Same to me as ppl who can't put shopping carts in coral and they are first to bitch when one hits their car

When I worked at (Home Improvement store), I regularly loaded 8' landscape timbers into Prius (Prii?), something you can't do in a dcsb.

I might consider a Prius if it weren't so damn ugly, expensive, easy to total. Sounds like yours took a pretty good hit, but I've seen them totaled from far less. A Friend of mine got his totaled from a little water in the battery compartment. Car left them stranded, just told them to see their dealer. And yes the price of oil WILL go back up and it ain't gonna be pretty when it does!

We all may be riding bikes when Saudi gets done! BTW we got a iQ, crazy good mileage, easy to maintain, drives well, and low cost of ownership:D

I live in a town full of smug Prius and Subaru drivers. I know some reasonable down to earth people who drive both, but in general the environmental justice warriors who drive them think they walk on water and look down their noses on others.

Don't get me wrong I have no problems with either of these cars, but the mentality of some of the people who drive them is sickening. Those hybrid batteries will be leeching toxins in landfills, and I have no idea where the Subaru drivers get off on their environmentalist superiority, it's a normal car.
