I like it too. There are a lot of people who have used up all of their switch blanks and have asked me if there is an option outside of the blanks. This should fit the bill perfectly and once again finish off looking like a stock option.

Still some ground work to be done. Were you looking to retrofit this into your existing kit or just do it over and sell the kit you have. A retrofit is possible but will require some wiring on your end and have a few limitations. I'll send you a PM later to outline those so you know what's possible.

Okay perfect. I'm currently out of stock on the 15 minute switches but expect them back in on Tuesday. I'll send you a PM once I have them here.

 

Anyone done a comparison between 5 minutes and 15 minutes with these heated mirrors? I see most everyone ordering the 15 minute switches, but curious if these mirrors actually heat up enough to thaw a layer of frost in just 5 minutes. I'll probably pick up a set of these (awesome design by the way), but I'm going to weather this first winter and see how annoying this gets. Last vehicle had heated mirrors and windshield for the wipers.

I'll chime in on my own experience... Maybe others can too. I personally find that 5 minutes handles about 90% of what I see over here in BC. I think the only times I need a bit more is when there has been freezing rain and there is a layer of ice on the mirrors.

When will you know your pricing for a kit that includes the fancy new mirror switch? Very cool.

 

That's the second set of EZViews in a row... Looks like everyone who got a pair really likes them.

I should be able to figure out costs pretty soon actually. There will be multiple offerings for that option that will vary in costs. I'm aiming to keep a very basic no bells and whistles kit at the same cost as the under the AC kit and add ons will of course be extra. I'll try to crunch the numbers on that over the next few days.

Also thought if there was enough interest I might be able to do a mini group buy on that to offer a sharper introduction rate.

I got the 5 min switch, and find it works well for the frost I get here on the coast of BC. If I want more drying, I just push the button again.

This is a perfect kit and works as it should. I received it in a very few days from ordering it and had no problems installing it following the instructions.

@Up2NoGood, I'm interrested but I have a question for you: is there's a way to wire them so, when you start the truck with the remote, they'll be automatically on? I ask 'cause they'll be more likely useful on winter mornings and if I had to wait 'till I got in the truck to activate them, I'll have to drive the first 10 or so minutes without seeing anything (I'm not talking about getting rid of the morning dew but more, being in Canada, of a layer of ice most of the morning, at 04h00am!). Having them kicking in when the truck start would be awesome!

Please note that I'm "electrically challenged", but is the actuel switch a momentary one that trigger the relay for 5 or 15 mins? And is there's a way to put a on/off switch with the relay so, on start-up if it's at the "on" position, the mirrors will automatically heat then shut-off after 15 mins?

Provided your remote start isn't very old it likely has an option built into it that will be able to start the mirrors heating for you. I know 2 members for sure have done exactly that @Joe Cook & @GANBRO how it works is most remote starters have a "switched ground" option and what that means is when the truck is started with remote start there will be a wire lead that become grounded.

The heated mirror relay coil has constant positive on one end of the coil and is waiting for a ground signal on the other end in order to trigger the relay. So by taking the switched ground lead from your remote start and connecting it to the relay coil ground wire you will get heated mirrors on whenever the command start is used and the heated mirror switch would also be able to control the heated mirrors.

I know @GANBRO also added a switch so that he could disable the heated mirrors from coming on in summer when the command start is used.

That would be the best method to use and I believe is a standard feature of many command starts. Of course it would be good to check your command start manual, or ask the shop that installed it.

Finally got around to installing my heated mirrors! ( under the AC ). The instructions were spot on and it took me just under the four hour mark with no help. Running the wire through the boot that protect the wiring harness inbetween the door was for sure the hardest part. I ended up running a large zip tie and turn proceed to tighten it. After the boot was compressed it was much! Easier to run the wires.

Once it was all installed and up and running the heating elements behide the mirrors heat up extremely fast, I was pretty surprised at that. I would hands down recommend this MOD to your truck if you live anywhere it snows or gets frost. Jaimes is incredibly awesome to deal with! Wouldnt have a problem doing business again with him! Great guy with and awesome product! A++

 

Thanks for the review and kind words! You aren't kidding, when those mirrors get activated they really waste no time getting down to business lol.

 

Ok I'll keep posting updates as things progress. Right now things are in a temporary hold while I wait for parts to arrive. I held off on ordering stuff in until I could confirm that these switches would be a perfect fit which they are.

As I said though there will be multiple offerings that you guys can select to cater to your own needs / taste.

The most basic option will simply be the new switch style (non illuminated) and when you press the mirror button in the mirrors will heat until you push the button again to stop them.

Then from there you could add features:

- timer option (5, 10, 15 & 20 minutes) with that I will convert the button to a momentary style rather than latching and wire it up to a timer relay.

- illuminated switch. You can select whether you want the switch to light up only while the mirrors are heating (serves as an indicator light) or I can wire it so it acts just like the rest of your switches and lights up with the headlights on, can be dimmed etc. At this point green has been 100% confirmed, I've just now ordered switches that should also illuminate in amber and in red. Once I have those I will also confirm they fit.

Unfortunately the switches that can light up are a different style connector. See below:


Left is an illuminated switch and right is a non illuminated switch. The one on the right shares the exact same connector that it already in our trucks. The illuminated options will require for me to make a mini harness that connects to your existing mirror switch connector, and then converts all of that feed to the updated style connector. I'll build it so that it's as simple as clicking one end in your existing connector and the other end clicks into the new upgraded switch. Again keeping things as user friendly as possible

If going with the most basic and cheapest option then you will need to add one terminal into your existing connector



Not very hard to do and I'll have the wire built into the harness with the terminal already crimped on the end, you would just need to insert it into the connector. It's possible to build a mini harness for that too... But in reality you likely wouldn't want to pay to have a bridge harness built to accomplish what you could do in about 30 seconds (putting new terminal in empty slot of the existing connector)

Anyhow I gotta run.... Helping a family member move this afternoon.
