That's what I'll do. I'm not really pressed from time, since the only lights I have installed right now are the bed lights. Its just a pain having to return items

So I need wiring help, maybe you guys can help me out. I have a 20" bar in my Pelfreybilt bumper and I wanted to swap out the cheapo "push-button" switch that came with the wiring harness to an eBay rocker switch I have. After I wired everything up and went to test the light: it flashed and I blew the fuse in the harness. Thought I did something wrong so I checked all my connections and tried again. Ended up blowing two more fuses before I came here for help. Any Ideas?
Here's the back of the switch (on an Iggy switch panel). It's wired correctly I believe and I didn't do anything to the harness itself which was working fine before the switch swap. I'm lost.

FYI, I have my fuse panel that I was waiting to install once the switches came in, but now I'm worried I'd do all the work and have the same issue.

Is it possible that you need a higher amped fuse? Try going back to the original switch and see if the fuse blows.

I'm using the same 20A rated fuse that came with the wiring harness originally. Does the switch add amperage draw? It has a tiny LED indicator light on it, but nothing major... I'm lost. I'll try a 25A fuse in the morning.

I don't think the LED on the switch would make any difference.

No relay? You shouldn't be powering the lights through the switch, but using the switch to toggle relay contacts that drive the lights. Your switch quite likely is not rated for that current.

I'm currently assembling parts for my fuse box and I have a couple questions.

I want the ability to switch between ignition-on vs always-on for a few of my accessories - I would use SPDT relays, correct?

For the SPDT relays, rather than running each of them to some ignition-powered source, should I instead run a fuse/wire tap to a SPST relay to minimize the power draw from whatever I tap into? Should this run to a bussbar that the SPDT relays would connect to?

I wanted the dealer technicians to be able to get to both my big fuse box and small relay box, but I am not running a lot of accy circuitry, just a little. Details in build thread if you are interested.

    Dude, nice!

I never thought about using an oem fuse box from some other vehicle. Great idea, it's essentially pre wired. Cool.

I have heated mirrors, 21" light bar, under hood lights, and bed lights. Will be adding my heated seat covers in the near future. Fuse panel mounting plate from Yotamac. I painted it blue (didn't like the bare metal look), drilled and tapped holes for mounting what needed to be mounted:thumbsup:
