My antenna seems to have a lot of play, loose. How do you tighten it?

Also how do you gain access to do so?

 

Assume you mean your radio antenna, if so tighten with a small wrench. I have no idea what you mean by "gain access", tighten it at the bottom.

 

Can it be tightened from the outside or do I need to get inside the fender?

It just seems like a real bitch if you need to replace it......

 

Is it just the antenna that's loose or the entire antenna/base?

If it's just the antenna, grab a small wrench and tighten it like a screw. There should even be a little plastic wrench inside your glove box from factory made for removing and tightening the antenna.

 

The whole rubber piece moves around. I'm guessing that's what you mean by the base.

 

You're going to have to remove your fender liner to gain access to the back side of the antenna base. The bolt that's holding the antenna base in place is probably loose.

 

The chrome thing on the top is a nut remove the antenna mast and you can tighten it with a pair of needle nose pliers if it does not have flats on the nut.

 

I looked inside the fender liner and the bolt at the very bottom is tight. It's the rubber piece on the actual fender that's loose. So the little chrome piece with the notches is a nut?

 

New truck, old truck?

New trucks come with a small wrench(inside the glove box) that slides over the antenna from the top.

If it's older and that wrench is missing - any wrench will do - the base of the antenna is hexoganal.

 

Th truck is 2009, no wrench. The nut I'm assuming is the chrome piece with the four notches. It's seized so it looks like a new base is the way to go.

 

I didn't get a wrench with my 2015.

 

Or a temp in your mirror.....sucker!!!

 

My "11" didn't either now I feel miss treated.
