With the sway bar and upper balljoint disconnected I don't see what would be stopping the LCA from going down far enough to fit it in there? You'll have to unfasten the ABS sensors from the UCA and be cautious of the brake line, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Justinlhc. I have the sway disconnected, I've tried with and without the UCA connected. It seems like the dust cover at the bottom is getting in the way some, can that be safely moved? Also, I did the strut/coil assembly myself - could I have screwed that up? I know the tophat and spring seating plate are correct, but is it possible that the spring is not lined up the right way?

If I push the UCA/LCA down far enough to get past the dust cover it pushes against the spindle. If I disconnect the UCA from the spindle to move it out of the way I can't push the LCA down far enough. Should I disconnect the LCA and bring it up under the strut? I feel like an idiot, seems like I'm missing something basic here.
