    Can you still use the bolt on as hi-lift jack points? Do most of you get bare metal then do your own spray painting/bed liner to the bars?

    I'm going to plate mine in sometime soon. The open ones get sandblasted so I'm hoping that buy plating them in and adding some 3m tape for traction will just make it so I have to touch up the underside for surface rust.

    Yeah I have jacked mine up a couple times with them bolted. And I got the powder coated then use rattle can satin black to touch them up.

    I put all pro sliders on my truck and used bolt on. In case I bend them I can fix them.

    I was just wondering how you get weld on sliders off when you screw them up from smashing into something.

    Yeah that thought occurred to me as well. I can't imagine that's very fun.

    True with either. And realistically with the bolt-ons, if you use/dent/bend them. They will be under tension and spring out of alignment if you do ever remove them and take a bunch of work to bolt back on.

    This isn't a direct comparison because it's part of the chassis structure, not cantilevered off of the frame.

    This tube is the driver side rocker tube of my buggy. It is actually the cheaper/weaker HREW tubing in 1.75 x .120 wall that has been ABUSED with a bunch of massive drops directly onto the tube and rolled over once.

    HREW is the cheapest/weakest that is usable/available. DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) is stronger, then Chromoly is strongest (way overkill). This is relevant to bending and dent resistance.

    The upgrade during the current rebuild has been to add kickers to reinforce with 1.75 x .188 wall DOM. This adds width to help keep rocks off the sides and a small step along with a massive increase in strength.
