"Messages" app

Why when I get a message does it pop up and tell me, but the only option I can choose is ignore??

 

By default, Entune will not let you READ a message while moving... once you stop, it should become an option.

 

I have a Note 3 and I get the option for it to PLAY ... when I press play a voice reads the message to me. READ appears only if the vehicle is stopped. ... not too sure why yours does not.

 

It worked the first week. It played them for me while I was driving. Now, it only shows ignore whether I'm parked or doing 70.

 

So quick question? Do you have more than one bluetooth? We connected my wife's phone and then I remembered something was different. I had to go into the menu and select my phone as the main phone and music before the play would appear again.

 

This is the only device that's been used in the truck.

Have you had other people send you text messages while driving and get the same ignore only option?

 

Indeed I have. The only thing that's worked is if I go through the complete setup process in connecting the phone each time. Which seems ridiculous. The phone always works. The only thing that I need to reset for is for the play option.

 

I have the same issue, just hadn't had time to research it. My 2015 Highlander plays them with no issues.

 

Just as a side note; did you have lots of text messages already that it worked properly? The reason I am asking is just tonight I was in the navigation setup trying to save a location, when I noticed that it said "1 of 5 free used". Then I noticed that the nav said only 100 predestinations were free? So, I am wondering WTH is this a paid subscription just to use my system? I am wondering if something only gives us a certain amount off free SMS messages. I hope not, but just a thought. There should probably be a new thread for the ONLY 5 locations in the Nav.

I am going home tomorrow; 700 mile trip and will probably get lots of texts, I will post at my rest stops if something changes on my text messages.

 

This might sound silly but maybe it's something to do with texting yourself. I had my wife send me like 4 texts a minute yesterday until I figured out that I couldn't have my message app open (on my phone) to her screen while trying to get them to come through to my truck.

It does this no matter who texts me.
I figured out why it's doing it, but don't know how to fix it.
When I get in the truck the phone automatically syncs. But the Messages app does not. I have to click on the Messages app, it then asks me every single time if I want to set it up. Then I click yes and it says waiting. 99 out of 100 times it just gives up. Once in a great while it works and goes to the messaging screen. If I make it to that screen then it works flawlessly. If not, it only gives me the ignore option.

 

Im sure you went into the messages settings. I'm stumped man. I'm sorry I can't help.

 

Have you tried deleting the connection on the phone and head unit, and re-pairing it? Sometimes the 'pairing' becomes corrupt. Just a thought.

Upon further investigation I found this:

If I renew the connection each and every time I get in the truck, the messaging works fine.
(Meaning each time I get in the truck go in to my phones Bluetooth settings, hit disconnect from the truck. Then hit reconnect)

 

I wonder when someone will have a way to make it read the message even when driving

 

It does play they messages while driving. ((when working properly)) it pops up on the screen saying you have a message from ____. It then gives you the option to have that message played "play" ignore the message "ignore" or call the sender "picture of a phone". The only thing it doesn't let you hit is the "read" button so you can actually read it. But it does play the message for you.
