I say just convert it to 4x4, low miles and with 4x4 then dump money into it. Saves the hassle of selling and looking for any new rig

This is an option that isn't for everyone. But it's an option. The hassle of selling and buying in nothing compared to conversion.

It was more towards the whole looking for the perfect Tacoma AGAIN, it took me a little bit to find mine and I'd hate to do that again. Plus a conversion is a huge learning experience as well. But again its not for everybody like you had said. If it were me with that low of miles I'd keep it and convert it and then never look for another truck in my life (hopefully)

I'm trying to figure out what this part is. The part in the lower left corner of the pic covered in grey foam with wires coming out. @BamaToy1997

It might be the lower left junction box.

I wouldn't let mileage hold you back. I bought my double cab with 150k on it. No issues. Runs great. Long as it's well maintained Id buy anything under 200k without question.

Well I'm getting that way because it's pretty hard to find a nice one now! I will look for a couple months though before I go insane because I don't have a truck lol!

Edit: Was also considering buying a high mileage truck and swapping my motor in it! How much do you think my motor will go far if I sell it too? 125k miles

Agree, when I converted mine it's only have 87k miles since truck only owned by 1 owner and that was me. Buying another used truck is way too much of a hackle cuzz you never going to find out if the truck is bad until you own it.

    So riddle me this:

This just started a Yesterday on my drive to work (100 miles, through hills). When I apply throttle, my rpm jumps up 1-1.5k with no additional power output. If I let off the gas and then reapply, ever so gently, then I get an almost normal response (still a little sluggish). It's not just me stomping on the pedal. This is also happening when cruise control is engaged, as soon as I start up a hill, the truck tries to increase power to maintain speed, but the rpms just jump up to 4k like its in Neutral.

I did clean the throttle body and MAF today, I did notice an improvement in the over all performance, but this issue is still on going.

Manual? Sure sounds like a clutch slipping.

Def sounds like slippage. Did you burn it up recently? When it starts doing that and you stop you will probably smell it too.

No smells, no recent burning up. Normal around town driving and driving to work. Work for me is 100 miles away through mountains.

I have had manuals for the last 22 years, haven't had it slip like this before, but doesn't mean that isn't the issue.

Can't justify/afford a marlin clutch, anyone else have any suggestions? Haven't bought a new clutch in a long time and then it was always from the local parts house.
