Amp research power step

I like the nfab ones. But u don't know if the step drop is enough. I have to ask them how much of a drop the bolt on step is.

 

If you need a running board and can afford the Amp boards they are a good option. The problem with the factory running boards or tube steps is the Tacoma has a low entry so as you step on the running board you have to duck and squirm your way in. I took mine off the day I got my truck. The Amp boards go down so they make it easier to get into the truck. Of course as others have mentioned, if you wheel at all best to look at sliders.

I have the Amp steps, and honestly even after extensive modding to my truck, they remain my favorite addition of all.
I've had to replace the motors, one each, but amp was great about replacing them and i found the initial install was not very difficult, just time-consuming.
I replaced the small led lights with blue waterproof strip lights that not only look great, but do actually help when getting in and out of the truck in the dark.
No off-roading here, but winters haven't been a problem, just lube 'em occassionally and enjoy the constant looks and useability.

A possible birthday present to myself.

 

I'm the only one who has them. They work great and are mad very well. Amp is working on the wiring and a shim kit for the 2016. Mine are for a 2015 that I mod to fit. Also had to figure out wiring on my own.

 

I put them on my Wife's Rubicon. 4.5" lift with 37's. They have been on there for a year and a half. They work flawlessly. They won't drop down in the winter if they are packed with ice. But as soon as the ice melts or you knock it loose they work flawlessly again. No issues. But I do spray lube on the hinges a few times a year. And they are not used as Rock Sliders.

The other thing is with the amp boards you can pull the fuse when you go off road. When in the up position everything is above the fram. So you really have to hit something high and good to mess up the brackets and motor.

They did not have for my truck and it was 1900$.

 

If these are so massively expensive, then why do the motors fail on them? I don't care how much dirt, mud, snow, ice or anything that gets on them, for that kind of money they should last a long time.

 

That's is a rediculos statement. You can not seal the motor 100% from the elements. Dirt dust salt mud are abrasive and will case damage over time. They also offer a 5 year warranty and their customers service is fantastic.
