For some reason when im going through deep snow or slowly pushing through snow, the power to my wheels cuts out. As if it were a rev limiter or traction control or something. I know this is controlled by the computer and is programmed to do so. But i need to disable this feature. It will leave me stranded. If im making progress pushing through some snow and the wheels stop then im stuck. Can anyone ezplain why this "feature" is there and point me in the direction of a mod to disable????

its traction control kicking in. If you are in 4lo you can spin your wheels till your hearts content. If you want to disable traction control in 2hi or 4hi. stop completly, press and HOLD the traction control button to the left of the steering wheel till 2 lights light up on your dash.

4-high has limited slip (front and rear) with no engine output regulation. It can sometimes act a little bit weird if you happen to have a manual, downshift and wind out the engine more. If its an automatic, just stomp on it harder.

This function will actually help keep you UNSTUCK, or get you WORSE stuck because it is able to dig itself in further than without it.

The system reduces engine out put while applying the rear brakes to activate the traction control it's good for short slipping of the wheels but not so good where it's likely to slip a lot like going up steep slippery hills.

You are describing what it does in **TWO WHEEL DRIVE**, but not 4.

    wrong.

if you flip to 4hi without touching the traction control button you have traction control enable with engine regulation. If you tap the traction control button, you will turn off engine regulation (cutting of the throttle) but keep the traction control (LSD) action. If you stop and hold the traction control button you can fully disable both which will allow you to spin till your hearts content.

You should take a look david k's thread on traction control modes.

Its time for you to read the owners manual.
Again, this is the behavior in TWO WHEEL DRIVE.

There are only two modes in 4wd; traction control ON and traction control OFF. ON mode has no engine limitation.

Not true. If spinning your wheels in 4hi, the engine output will be regulated. You need to either quick push the VSC button and activate the auto lsd and stop output regulation, or hold the button when stopped to shut off lsd and engine output regulation. In theory the same applies, if you have done the yellow wire mod, in 4low.

@tgear.shead What year is your truck? Your statement does apply to some of the earlier years.

Like I said, you need to go read the owners manual. 2009+ behave in this manner.

I've read it, understand it, have put every traction function to the test, and understand what they do. YMMV

Yeah, my experience is with my '12. That's why I asked him what year his truck is - then it went downhill. :notsure:

I'm going to go drive my truck on wintery roads and utilize some of the various traction features. Have a good day, everyone

You don't think because it's in 4wd it does not slip as much and it's not likely the traction control might kick in?

No kidding , leave it to a corvette guy to figure it out :/

'First off, Jay, stay out of this.

Ok. I didn't want to mention it but I was thinking about turbo charging my Vette. I got to thinking about it and how in efficient even turbos are (compressor efficiencies of about 80% at best).

Since a turbo's function is to pressurize incoming air and force it into the upper motor, and turbos are driven by high pressure exhaust gas created from the combustion process, couldn't I just bypass the turbo altogether and route my headers back into the throttle bodies?

Since I have CFI, I could balance the DEI (direct exhaust injection as I just coined it) by feeding one header into each throttle body. Yes, the charge air wouldn’t be that cold, but it would be under a hell of a lot more pressure.

I attached a quick sketch below:

There are still a few things I need to work out:
    1) How do I get the CFI aircleaner to fit in a way that hides this plumbing?
    2) Does anyone make a V-band clamp that will bolt an exhaust header to a CFI throttle body?
    3) What pinion angle should I use in my rear-end? I’m sure there will be a noticeable difference in torque output.

    What do you guys think?'
