I know these are all scams, but sometimes I enjoy playing them along a few minutes before suggesting they find real work.

Asking them things like what is my IP address from the machine sending you error messages, what system am I running (SW and/or HW), asking them to repeat themselves several times, etc etc.

So there are some creative folk around here.

Anything creative you enjoy doing to waste their time???? :D

Ask them if their product comes on 5 inch floppy disk, or if they can help you connect you apple 2 to the interwebs. Then say you are going to boot it up and jusy lay the phone down.....

Lack of persistence is unattractive, I prefer to force them to my happy place.

I do similar, I start with "Which computer? I have 5 within arms reach" and go from there. I has one I can only assume 'new guy' on the horn for close to 20 minutes this way trying to identify which linux box I was using.

Just a bunch of old crap
My ex-wife fell for one of these a couple years ago, and she let the heavily-accented person to remotely control her computer and "download updates". Needless to say the computer went to shit within a week and was so loaded with grime and whatnot that it wouldn't even allow her to open a browser or barely boot up.

She asked for my help and I just laughed and laughed and walked out the door.

My neighbor is a computer tech it's incredible but two to three people a week bringing their computers cuz they gave up their information to these scamers.
I start off nice but by the time it's done I'm telling them about how they like to fuck goats.. My wife looks at me and says another scammer and I reply Yeap
