Gotcha. ECGS, recommends another weight other than 75-W90. What did you put in the front Diff?

 

I used 85W 140 as recommended, but I really don't know how necessary it is. Do you still have vibes?

 

I currently, have

$29 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75W-90 in the front diff now but will go buy 2 quarts of 85W-140 and replace it.
Yes, I currently am experiencing vibes after the ECGS Bearing install. Mainly when I turn my wheel....especially to the right.
Which I don't understand, because I replaced both cv axles, both hub assemblies, and did the needle bearing fix.....

 

If you are still experiencing the brake issue, check that you didn't twist the brake line when re installing. If you twist the brake line it can cause a pinch in the line and will result in the brakes not releasing.

Vibration being more noticeable in a turn usually indicates a bad wheel bearing. But if your brakes have warped the rotor then you may be getting feedback from that. Also have the balance on the wheels checked.

Are you running after market wheels?

 

I'll check to see if there is an obvious twist in the front break lines.

I just installed brand new hub assembles from nj636...I don't think it's the wheel bearings.

When I pulled the Rotors off, I didn't notice any abnormal wear or warpage...
I will have my front 2 wheels rebalanced and see if it helps.
Yes, I am running 16 x 8 Eagle Alloy wheels. I have what looks to be 1/4 inch wheel spacers on so they can clear the calipers.

 

Just got the vibe, 14,000 miles and immediately after the first time 4hi was used. Anyone in SLC have the removal/install tool for rent? I'll wait for a week or so before ordering, after that I'll have it for anyone needing it.

 

I didn't use a C Clamp when reinstalling the calipers. They just snugly fit over the rotors.

 

Hi all, I got vibrations after installing front bilstein adjustable shocks... When I am on 4x4 vibrations goes away. So that doesnt have to do with the cv axle since it turns when in 4x4???

 

Dealership replaced only rear trans mount since I'm at 59500 miles. They said that's all they can to do to try to fix the issue. I am not going to argue with them anymore and Just ordered the bushing. Who has the removal/install tools I can borrow?

 

CV Axle turns in both 2wd and 4wd. Switching to 4wd changes the dynamics eliminating the vibration. You got the front diff bearing vibe.

If the vibe is cyclical, is strongest around 40 mph, and goes away in 4Hi, then that's pretty much a guarantee. Classic symptoms. Even two of the three is likely 99.99% the bearing...especially if it's felt immediately after lifting.

You'll probably notice the vibe becomes less if you take a good 40 mph turn to the right.

 

There is now an "upgraded" bearing available from Toyota as part of the TSB. See post #2645. Not sure if it's any better than the original, but that's what they're doing.

Had mine done 2 mo ago, still no issues!

 

I'm interested to see how well it holds up over time. I had my entire front diff and carrier replaced under warranty at around 12K - it was covered because the Baja has a factory lift - but this was before the new bearing was available. I now have about 23K on the truck and the problem hasn't come back...yet. If it does I'll be getting the TSB bearing on warranty.

So after finding this forum thread this morning I dropped off my 2015 Tacoma 4x4 with 9,606 miles on it at Toyota. I've been experiencing a very faint rumble strip type vibration from the foot rest on my driver side floor board for months now but only at 35-45mph. Didn't notice it when switching into 4H. (Truck purchased Feb 2015). I did have an OME Suspension System installed but pretty sure the vibe came first.

Anyhow, my Toyota dealer isolated the "grinding noise" as coming from the front diff. I was advised that Toyota does have a TSB (Toyota Service Bulletin) for this issue and they are ordering parts under that TSB.

Dealer tells me this TSB uses modified/altered parts and not the original to solve the problem. Said the fluid sample they took looks clean. They don't see any metal, etc.

While it was in the shop I had them go ahead and do my 10k Toyota Care service since I'm so close. They put in my Mobile 1 Full Synth and a Fumoto Drain Valve for me. Should have my truck back today and will take it back in once parts arrive.

 

Just had my 2014 DCSB lifted a couple weeks ago and immediately got the notorious needle bearing vibes. Set my appointment with the dealership for next Tuesday to do the TSB work. Fingers crossed that solves it. If not, I will then look into the ECGS fix.
