    Hey everyone,
So I'm getting the frame on my '07 inspected day after tomorrow. I've looked and I think my frame will pass but it still does have rust. The truck has 67000 miles on it. I've been told if it passes they send me on my way. After that I guess I'll figure out what to do next. Anything else I should ask/watch out for during this process? I've gotten a lot of good info from this thread already. Just want to be well informed when I go. Thanks!

If you think that it does nt need a frame change and it looks good,I don t see why they will do a frame change. Also that Tacoma has very low mileage, that is great.
When I realized that my Tacoma was one the bad frames, there was no much doubt in my mind that it was one because it was so rusted and flakes were falling from under the truck.
I could even peal some rust part with my fingers cause it was so bad.
You are lucky if your frame looks pretty good.
They do have procedures, and do some different test, and pictures sented to your Toyota Central, our bureau was in Toronto.
Then they decide,if it is a go,or not.
    All the best
    Charly

"Been told" that by whom? What state are you in?

Any authorized participating Toyota dealership located in the cold climate states will inspect the condition of your vehicles frame. Based on the results of Toyota's inspection, If significant rust perforation is not found. Toyota will apply CRC to key areas of your vehicles frame at no charge to you..

I'm in Utah. Asked 2 different dealers what will be done if it passes. The response was "nothing". I asked about applying an undercoat and was told nope we don't do that. And I do have rust, just pretty sure I don't have any holes. However based on the rust I have doing nothing with it is not an option if it passes. Thanks for the responses!

Took mine in Monday, 30th at 8:00 AM and was there at 2:00 PM today, Tuesday and here's how it looked so far. I couldn't believe they were that far into doing the swap.

Which 2 dealers? I'm pretty sure the bulletin says they are supposed to coat the frame if it passes inspection. And FYI, the inspection isn't just visual. They go at it with a hammer.

    Treu.
If it passes the inspection, they are suppose to look into a good clean up and take some rust out before aplying that black stuff to help protecting the frame, and no charge.
I know a guy around here that had it done.
They said that his frame was find, and did that work on it.
    Good luck

I'm glad to see that they pulled your engine/trans, instead of leaving it in the body like I have seen some shops do in posts here. Please post up your experience; if the dealer charged you anything, or replaced anything not on the required list as a good-will gesture.

Me too. I asked the Dealer in Hebron how they handled the engine / trans before scheduling for the work to done. As can be seen they do it right and got the job. lol
I provided new upper control arms, front shock assemblies, rack bushings and inner / outer tie rods for them to change out. They told me they may charge me to change the tie rods which I'm ok with. I may go see where they're at this afternoon again.

Thanks, but I don't really think it's anything I've done. On the other hand I don't cowboy it off road and dunk it in mud or water holes.

I went back to the Dealer again this afternoon at about 2:00 to check progress. The Tech said between yesterday after I left and today he was able to put about 7 more hours in it.DSC00412 - Copy.jpg DSC00414 - Copy.jpg

Note to self, go to Mark Miller...

I would make a phone call to Toyota Corp...pretty sure it states that all frames that pass get undercoated...

I will be taking mine in in the next little while to have the inspection done. I don't see anything that would lead me to believe it will fail, but now I know I will take it to Mark Miller. They are the most convenient by my work anyway. (And where I bought my truck)

I ordered my frame from Larry H after first failing at Mark Miller.

Looking at that limited service campaign for application of the CRC. Utah isn't one of the states listed (unless that has since changed and I haven't found it yet). So unfortunately it looks like if the frame passes you are on your own to deal with it if it is registered in Utah. I'll inquire again today when I take it in.

I will have to pull my letter out and look at it again, but I swear it said the frame would be coated if it passed.

Quick update. Dealership sent the report off and came back failed. New frame coming. Said that they will call me when the parts come in and should take a week to get the job done. I think that that is very very fast. Anyone get theirs done in a week? I was expecting months. Also they are throwing me a rental while they have my truck.

The dealer has had mine 4 day's now. I stopped in this afternoon to check where they were and it was about done. It took about 4 months to the day for them to get the frame and all the parts needed for the swap. The Tech said all he had left to do was put the tail lights in and do an alignment then drive it.

The work is like 40 hours. The wait for parts is 4-8 months
