    Hey all,
I'm looking to buy a double cab version of what I've already got. Forgive my ignorance, but did Toyota make any first gen double cab 4x4s with manual tranny?
I currently own a 2001 ext cab 4x4 manual, TRD O/R, w/ rear diff lock. It's not built for trailing quite yet because I knew I'd prob be parting with it once kids came along.
Needless to say, now that we've got a car seat, the ext cab is useless for weekend trips. I am looking to find exactly what I have now, with the double cab.
If you have what I want or can edumacate me on what my options are, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

They did not make any 1st gen double cabs with a manual. Auto only.

And your truck is already built for trailing as is. A stock 4x4 Tacoma with a rear locker can go many, many, many places.

If your truck has lived in Cali its whole life, you can fetch a lot of money for that. Assuming it's well maintained.

    Good luck with the hunt.

You can't get it with a 5-speed, only an automatic, and the automatic sucks. It cuts the balls off the 3.4L.

I just went through this early this year as our first kid was due in August, and decided I could not live with both a short bed and automatic tranny after driving one empty up Cuesta Grade north of San Luis Obispo. In fact, rear-facing infant seats are tough in any back seat these days.

I ended up buying a 2015 DCLB. If I was going to be forced into an automatic, I at least wanted more power.

Here is a Chicco Keyfit 30 in the back of my 2015 DC. It is one of the smallest, lightest infant seats they make, and it puts the passenger seat forward to the point where anyone taller than my 5'6" wife would probably not enjoy it for very long trips.

That's exactly why I don't want to sell it. It has treated me well the handful of times over taken her out. It's got 190k mi on it, how much do you think I should be asking for it? In good condition.

Do you have all the maintenance records? If it's been well maintained and is in good driving condition, I'd start at $13K honestly.

And FWIW my Tacoma was the only vehicle in my household for the first year of my daughter's life. Rear facing seat and all. It worked fine and it was manageable.

Glad I still have my truck.

I really did not want to sell my 01 Xcab either. It was hard, right after I got it how I wanted it except a few details.

Understand the California infant seat safety laws, and consider who else will be riding in your truck and where you will go/how long you will be riding in it.
