It's got 80K and shifts fine. Sometimes I can't get it on the first gear when traveling at 3- 6 mph so I have to come to a complete stop in order to get it to first. To my knowledge nothing on the transmission has been replaced but it has been making a chirping sound since I got it when it had 50K. The chirping sound is not extremely loud but it does get louder when it's cold outside and when the truck is cold. Is it normal for the shift nob to vibrate a little?

The chirping sound comes when I depress the clutch, the weird thing is that it does not always chirp.

Thats pretty normal for first. My subaru used to make that noise as well. at higher rpms it did it. It is normal for the shift nob to vibrate a little. You may want to think about doing a new clutch soon. 80k is alot on a clutch, they usually last about 60 for the average car and driver. If the clutch goes you are going to have a mess. You will have to put a whole lot more into the truck at that point. Sorry I cannot be of more help but this is what I know.

thank you for your input! All help is wanted. I was actually thinking of replacing the clutch since I do not know how it was treated for the first 50K miles of my taco's life.

Here is a video of the chirping sound I am having. The video is not mine but my truck makes the same chriping sound when the clutch is depressed:

The chirp is probably the throw out bearing. It is a known issue with these trucks.

When I took it for to the dealer (out of warranty) the tech told me that if it was the throw out bearing you would hear the chirping sound when the clutch is pressed and not when it is depressed (my case) so they ruled out the throw out bearing..

So it happens when the clutch pedal is not pushed. It could still be the TO Bearing...

So much fail in this post.

The OEM clutches can last a very, very, very, very long time if they are not abused. I had a 4runner with 243K miles on the original clutch and only replaced it when the motor blew up. Telling OP to replace his clutch just because it has 80K on it is moronic. If the clutch goes, the truck stops moving. Then you have to replace it. But it will start to slip and give you fair warning before it leaves you stranded.

OP should still get the throwout bearing chirp resolved though.

They can, he bought the truck used, with 50k. and it is unknown how the original clutch is treated. Thats great you have had awesome luck with your clutch lasting 240k. I was suggesting, and as I stated 60k on Average. Also for all we know the vibration he is mentioning could be alot more then what we all think it is. I was just giving my .02, no reason to tell me I failed....
