He made Blake Sims pretty damn effective...

I think Coker's problem is Coker. His mechanics aren't great and there's a reason he wasn't a starter anywhere before this year. He's a tough SOB and plays to win but his release is slow and he doesn't respond well to being pressured.

Lane didn't have much time with either of them. Imagine what he could do with someone over the course of a couple of seasons.

    Head unit. That's it.

Blake Sims simply had to get the ball into the air, or let his RB tendencies take over. Play calling was catered to the fact that he wasn't a QB. Coker has one of the best QB coaches and Kiffin, so, it must be a Coker thing. I cant wait until Blake Barnett is in, if he stays at Bama.

I'm reading where smart might bring in the OC from Western Kentucky. They averaged 44 ppg and led the nation with 4800 passing yards. Sounds like an air raid system, which is nice for someone with a big arm like Eason, but you've got to think he would Tailor it to fit with Chubb and Michel, too. You can't have those 2 weapons in the backfield and not use them.

The reason Coker wasn't a starter is he was sitting behind Jameis. But I agree that it's Coker who's not that great, whenever he came into games at FSU he didn't look good at all.

If we land Helton as our OC I believe he would do wonders on Easton at QB. I'm not worried about them not using Chubb and/or Michel because they will get their share of the ball. Especially Michel on the HB swing passes and screens.

I hope the Muschamp takes the SC job so that will force Smart to keep Pruitt if he does not take the Bama jig.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I just really hope Oregon doesn't pick an OC from within... Scott Frost obviously was the right choice when Helfrich became the HC. But I don't think anyone else on the staff should be the OC.

I don't think he's keeping Pruitt regardless. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it. It would turn out one of 2 ways: we'd have a junkyard Dawg defense again, or the 2 defensive juggernauts (Pruitt and Smart) would have differing opinions and Pruitt would either get fired or quit.

Mcgarity doesn't like Pruitt anyway, so I don't see him staying.

Lane would love to throw the ball 1,000 times per game, but he has Henry in the backfield and uses him (maybe b/c Saban makes him). I imagine that an air-raid coach would have the same kind of 'interference' from Smart as Lane has from Saban and it'll work out OK.

Right, he took full advantage of Sims' skill set. He tries with Coker but he ends up throwing it 10 yards away from the target most of the time.

I'll say this again that I've hear Smart and Pruitt had some kind of issue while together at Bama. Can any of the Bama guys on here confirm or prove this to be wrong?

He had his shot at starting and couldn't. Against Jameis, which isn't saying much

    I have to disagree here.

Jameis won the Heisman all while raping girls and stealing shit....

Not starting over a QB who lead a team to 29 straight wins, a national title, and a Heisman isn't saying much? I don't know of a single QB who could have started over Jameis.

Yeah I was disappointed when I heard that rumor. If that is true and they can not get past that then Pruitt will have to go. There is no way that Pruitt could last if Smart and our AD has any beef with him.

just gonna throw out that aj mccarron had 3 NC rings and only 4 losses as a starter so he would at least rival the "great" crablegs winston

Eh...he was a product of their level of competition as much as anything else. He barely got it done against a lot of crap teams and he looked like Jeremy Johnson when they finally went up against the defensive powerhouse of Oregon...
