Ever try to make a claim for damages under $500? Good luck with that! Most won't pay without a police report and most police won't write a report for something under $500 in damages with no personal injury.

Yes actually, but there was a police report. Got rear ended in my Jeep in the snow a few years back. My hitch took most of the blow and I had a small dent in my bumper, his insurance company sent me a $400 check for it. The other guy had to have at least $1500 in damage though so it would have certainly merited a police report. Our local "Accident Investigator" watched it happen too.

I can see your point though. Just pains me to accept that the world can be so cruel and unjust.

    Are floor mats a mod?
Paint remover in a ketchup squirt bottle works great for writing on someone's car. A former co worker caught her hubby cheating, and wrote all over his Porsche! 1st rain washed the paint off so words were bare metal on a black car.....a little extreme for a bad parking job, so I'll just stick to paint balling their windshield so they can't see out. Washes off, no damage, and very inconvenient for the poor Parker.

As noted earlier in this thread...some of the A-holes are not those doing the parking.

I took a bar of soap to all the windows on a car that had parked blocking me in my driveway so I was late to work!

    $1500 + $400 = $1900 in damages...

Is it really? And I just spent all this money on an accounting degree, what a waste.

So you are saying that they count the damage to both cars as one claim? I didn't realize that. I was just saying that my claim against his insurance was $400. $500-$400=$100 of damages under the $500 mark.

A little bit of cord and a red flag, no problem at all.

Why even debate this? I've never heard of police refusing to take a report on a vehicle collision due to money. Not to mention cops are NOT damage estimators. Usually has more to do with where the collision occurs (public roadway vs private property). But hey, I'm not a cop anymore so what would I know? Suppose it may differ state to state?
