    My 03 is push button.

    I don't think Toyota even knows why some trucks have jshift but others that are the same cab, engine, trans, packages have push button lol. Probably just had to clear out stock of the old cases.

    That pic I posted cam from a 2004 DC it doesn't have push a button. Toyota change quite a bit of things.

    Pretty much stock with some crap welded to it.
    What ones better? If imagine the manual j shift would be more reliable?

    Do you happen to know if the pilot bearing is the same as the input shaft bearing?
    Replacing the clutch soon and not sure what's making a growling noise in my truck.
    I'm replacing the pilot bearing, throwing bearing and rear main seal when the transmission is dropped; I'm not sure if there is an input shaft bearing or if the pilot bearing is just another name for it

    Most likely its your throwout bearing that is making the noise. After you install the new clutch, make sure you adjust your clutch pedal. There is a thread on here about that, best chance to reduce the noise.

    I'll take a look thanks!
    I'm hoping it's the throw out bearing;
    When I'm going 60 and let off the gas I get this howling noise and when I push in the clutch the noise goes away.
    Noise sounds similar to a bad wheel bearing.

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    I get that howling as well, I always thought it was either my old carrier bearing (cause the noise started not too long after my lift) or just slop in the transmission or differential (my rear diff has a lot of play). Maybe it is my throwout though, I thought those squeaked when they were toast.

    Stuff and things that make it better.
    @SilverGhost
    Does the truck have an factory alarm? If so I would guess that is the TVIP ECU.

    I had the Marlin Crawler HD 1200 clutch on my last Tacoma and loved it.

    Yes, those went in the trash a very long time ago. They're only held in with like two little nuts. They are doing absolutely nothing for you right now, and are only there to support the ends of the stock bumper.
