Back up camera

    Is there a way to disconnect the back up view finder in the rear view mirror?............I don't like it............

    The signal cable must be disconnected prior to tailgate removal. Plugs to weather-proof the cable ends ought to be in your glove box.

    Disconnect the cable and plug the ends. The camera signal won't have a path.

    I'd be curious to know if you would then have a blank screen pop up in the mirror when you go to reverse. If so, someone with a wiring diagram would have to provide clues to shutting down power to the camera or amputating it.

    Not sure, but I'm thinking you can just turn it off with the button on the mirror it self.

    If I can find the thread where the guy disconnected it to make it come on anytime, you could probably just unplug it in that black thing that comes down from the roof to the top of the mirror. Inside that should be a plug that gives power to the monitor, but I don't know if that disconnects power for the auto-dimming function as well.

    Yes, pressing it while in reverse will turn the camera off.
