Racefan15 ......... I guess I am NOT the only one that spends time on the weekend with the new truck .... maybe our wives can get together and bitch about us ... then we can do both paint jobs at the same time .... LOL

I'm going to the local bodyshop that does all the contract work for our local Toyota dealer in the morning and I'm going to ask them to give me a estimate on doing what the OP did...I don't have the skills to even try that...I'll let u guys know what they say!

Well my local Toyota bodyshop wouldn't even try and paint on the chrome...said the paint would never hold up! So I guess that idea is out of the question....

It is all about the prep. Sanding, right primer and patience.

They just don't want to do the prep. It is time consuming. You really do have to physically and/or chemically degloss so the paint sticks. I did both. If you had access to a media blast-cabinet, I would do that. it would be the quickest and best route to prep.

@3dBdown, I may have borrowed your idea a tad!

Didn't use paint though as I wanted to see what it looked like first so I grabbed some white vinyl from work that matched really well and tried it out! I think it looks great and think I may do a more permanent job in the future. I'll take some pics in the daylight tomorrow and post them as well.

Has anyone done this on an OR. I'd be interested to see how it looks with the black lower lip.

Very pleased with the new grill mod. One day turn around at the local auto body shop for $250 including prep, factory paint, and clear coating. Thank you OP for the inspiration, I only wish I had had the confidence to do it myself as you did.

Did mine the same way. But left the chrome around it for now.

Definitely looks real nice. Not sure black/black trim would be really be best anyway.

Funny thing is, I like mine, but am contemplating designing a whole bumper/grille design that would replace the entire snout.
