Ah this is true. I think I'd rather deal with electrical than vacuum. At least I know/have a way to test electrical. I haven't a clue about vacuum. Even still, with me working overnights (so seeing almost no daylight this half of the year) and it starting to get colder, I may just see how much it costs to get it repaired. I don't like paying someone else to do my work, but I want it working correctly come Winter.

That looks awesome. Link? It's it adjustable to accommodate different size cases?

Keep us posted on how it holds up.

Hey bud if you wouldn't mind checking for the part all I really need is a part number. I don't need a pic of it. It's located under the driver side kick panel. Thanks again.

I know this is not related to Tacoma's but I just wanted to say,

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the families devastated by the San Bernardino shootings.

    Best Wishes,

Anyone know of any good turbo 3rz builds on here? Just picked this up today, looking to learn as much as possible from someone with firsthand experience.

Can't say that I do but you may want to do some research to see if your engine and ECU are actually from 1996, if so they have no clue how to deal with boost on their own so you'll have to research piggybacks and such. I've done some research but I would say the guy to learn from is @MadTaco461 with his turbo 2RZ since it is basically the same engine.

Cool, I'll check his build out. I've found 2 others so far. I'm pretty comfortable with the general workings but would really like to learn more of the fine details. From what I've read with pink top injectors and an aftermarket fuel pump you can reliably run 8psi with no piggy backing needed. 8psi should get me over 200 hp and I'm good with that..... for now haha.

Really? I wasn't aware of that, that's pretty cool. Now I want to revise my game plan, just got a new head gasket and head so I'm boost ready but I wasn't going to even consider it because of the old ECU limitations. I had always read that the 95-97.5 ECUs retard the timing to hell causing it to misfire and eventually stall under boost. Hmmm thoughts... I've got a turbo from a 300ZX with my name on it if this turns out to be feasible. :D Where'd you read about the pink injectors and higher flow pump being all that's needed for low boost?

Yup I ran my pinks before tuning them to about 7psi on that exact generic turbo. I got the piggyback just to make everything smoother and more spool up power. Just check your engine compression first.
