Pretty sure it's an ebay knockoff but I got it for cheap cheap, mileage unknown, maybe .5mm in and out, bout 1-2mm of side to side. I haven't pulled it apart to measure turbines yet but it's small. I'm probably going to build my own manifold so I can put the turbo where I want it.

Ah, I see. So that's where the difference between electronic and vacuum diffs come in. Makes sense.

J-Shift. ADD. 5 Speed. Best possible combo  I love getting up to 5 gear low range, pushing in the clutch, and tossing it in 2nd gear high.

I wouldn't want to give up the ADD for winter driving, and manual hub CV shafts are quite a bit weaker. These other guys are right, the vacuum operated ADD does not depend on the transfer case, but the switch that turns it on and off is different.

I'm not an advocate of making your own headers. Very against it actually. It's hard to do correctly and really should be TIG welded. And for a turbo you want high velocity but don't want to disrupted the flow of the gasses between cylinders. Would get them made by a professional performance shop before making my own.

And that is a lot of play..was cheap for a reason..the turbo game is an expensive one and you need to know before you start there is no such thing as cheap in turbo land. It'll always come back and bite you. Pay for the real stuff. It's worth it. Trust me.

Yea. I mean the vacuums have solenoids for the vacuum lines but not the actual actuator isnt electronic.

No I'm pretty sure the electronic actuator is with push buttons and the vacuum is j shift.

Is your electronic actuated or vacuum? I thought I read at some point the 01-04 May just all be electronic actuated..but I thought for sure the j shifts just had vacuum front diffs.

Yeah i know you get what you pay for and I plan on rebuilding it. I mainly picked this one up to build my setup off of and dick around with till it goes then spend the coin on a garrett or turbonetics or something once I have most of the bugs out.

All info is helpful. I'm trying to diagnose/repair my 4x4 system right now, and the issue seems to be up front, so I'll take whatever info I can get.

Gotta say you've confused me, because I always thought all the ADD actuators are the same.

Mine has a vacuum actuator. Which in and of itself is electric.

    Haha what??

If it's vacuum then vacuum is what slides the shaft over to lock in 4wd.

If it's electric it has an electric motor that slides the shaft to lock in 4wd..

    Make sense??

Yea I mean they all use electronics to turn on but to actually lock the diff in their is either a vacuum actuator or electronic.

Just reading back a couple pages.....I'm super confused with this talk about front diffs. I'm an '01 with a J-shift... Now I'm curious whether or not I'm electronic or vacuum driven?
