    Hi Taco World.
Yes I'm new here and am getting bitten from the upgrade bug.
Bought a new 2015 last week and am now looking for Christmas presents for myself.
Are there any Canadian manufactures around?
If not what about good Canadian shops.
    Thanks

    Welcome to TW.

Good question, man. I began a relationship with my 2012 Taco a few weeks ago, and I've been scouring the netherweb for Canadian sources. Most of my aftermarket stuff has come from Amazon.ca (sourced from the USA), so far, but now I'm looking at armour (I'm liking Pelfreybuilt, Mobtown, Relentless) and I can't find anything local. Previous owner suspension upgrade is from Australia, for God's sake! (Ford dealer I bought it from didn't even know it was lifted ). I ordered a Fold-a-Cover direct from the factory in Michigan. Any Canadians out there to shed some light on this?

Also, if your truck has the same options as my '12, do you find that in parking lots with snow and ice A-LSD is better than 4X4, as there is no binding on the front end for tight turning radius? Most of what I've read says, "just use 4x4", but I'm worried about binding.

@goesnsnow where in Canada are you located?

I know of a few Canadian retailers that sell aftermarket parts for our Tacomas but most of them have to source thier parts from the states. If you live close enough to the border you might want to look into getting a US P.O. Box and just driving across the border and importing the stuff you want from US retailers yourself . It'll save you on shipping costs and the markups at Canadian retailers.

There aren't any Canadian manufacturers that I know of. There are however a few 4x4 shops (at least in the Vancouver area) that will fab custom metalwork stuff for you truck like rock sliders, bumpers and skid plates, etc.

I'll be picking up a Bridgeport mill, welder, hydraulic press and pipe bender in the coming months. Hoping I'll be able to better answer your question in a year or so;)

I'd love to start making bumpers and racks... I'm a machinist for the oil patch and I'm getting super bored with the same old stuff. Time to diversify.

    I'm in Rossland B.C.
I am very colse to the US border, like 12km.
I would just rather support a Canadian company if I could.

I'm also right next to the border in Abbotsford, BC! It's a real shame all of the aftermarket truck accessories come from across the line. Getting hit by duty sucks.

Why would you have to pay duty on vehicle parts

Don't think the duty is the issue, greed maybe and sometimes US manufacturers protect Canadian dealers by not passing on US offered discounts. See this all the time. Amazon will not sell you an item from the US store even if you want to pay in US funds. Sucks so bad.

North Shore Off Road use to be a super Toy centric outfit back in the 80's and a great shop in general. I haven't been in the store in decades but believe they are pretty Jeep orientated these days. Very weird that they don't have a web site.

More or less the what mobtown offroad has to offer? They don't seem overly complicated! I might have to make that my first fab project!
