HU upgrade to double-din....no room for wires...

Took out the stock POS, and installed a Kenwood double -din. Installation was no biggie, but now I'm trying to cram a CRUX SWI, XM receiver, and the myriad of associated wires and connectors. WTF am I gonna do with all this stuff? I can just cram it in there, but is that the way to go? There's gotta be a better idea. Anyone? Anyone????

 

Try running the wiring to the passenger side of the dash near the glovebox.

 

It is a PITA. If you have a few boxes that need to go back there you need to get creative. There is some room on the left side, and as mentioned, there is a cavity up to the left of the glovebox and right of the HU, there is some space where the HVAC piping V's out behind the HU, there is also space in the center console above the cup holders. Otherwise it's a cram and bitch fest. That crossbar that is back there also makes fitting wires and such a pain. GL

 

If you organize the wiring and not have it all bundled up, it will fit in. You just have to take the time to neatly find a home for all of it regardless of how excited you are to play with your new radio!

 

Thanks guys....I'm thinking of using some string to wrap around the cables and then pulling the cables through the area behind the glove box.....truly a pain!

 

I do this, but pull the cables up over the top of the HU.
