Corporate bigwigs are up from NY for our Year-End reviews today. All of the coworkers who've been written up this past year are on edge, lol.

An old Marlin '81 with a 4x scope I picked up from GunsAmerica for $100. Nothing fancy, but I'm still excited for a new plinker. Going to take a lunch break and swing over the the gun shop tomorrow to pick it up. :D

Morning all. Hopefully none of you have friends/family involved with that mess in San Bernadino.

I see the press isn't wasting any time calling for stricter regulations on firearms, though.

What a shit show over there, terrible for the families involved!

CA has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. Prime example of how useless meaningless gun laws really are.

Exactly. Have you seen that nearly all of the news reports are saying that they were armed with "long rifles" instead of "assault rifles"?
My theory is that it's because assault rifles are already illegal in CA, so they couldn't possibly have had those. Long Rifles are still legal, for now, so that must have been what they were using.

What's really messed up is that the people that did the shootings apparently have a six month old daughter that they dropped off with grandma immediately beforehand. WTF?!

I know the press won't come out and say it, but I'm still putting my bet on them being Muslim extremists. This whole thing seems pre-meditated. I've heard reports that they were in 'tactical' gear but haven't heard what that actually means. One report did say they were wearing body armor but who knows how accurate that is. I didn't hear anything about the type of guns used yet.

Edit: Just read one report, they used 'automatic style rifles'. You're right, they won't use the term assault rifle because they're already banned there. That term seems to be reserved for states that don't have an AWB.

From what I heard on NPR this morning they were both born and raised in the US. The guy was from ?Iowa? or ?Illinois? but their parents apparently are from Pakistan. But, that's an early report so I'm sure it's subject to change.

The police report said they were carrying AR-15s.

I hear it's lovely there this time of year. Who doesn't want to spend Christmas in the sand box?

Yeah, I'm seeing some of the news stories being edited to 'assault rifles' now. And the new ones are all stating that they used 'assault-type rifles'

Little off topic, but I always wanted to see the pyramids before I die. Something fascinating about the architecture and raw manpower used to build them. But with the current state of affairs and tension around the world....I really don't think I will ever get there. I value my head attached to my body too much; and not being taken hostage is a nice way to live.

Canada is the only place I dare visit, and I mean come on....I have been to Maine numerous times and that is just Canada 2.0

It's a BS thread; there is no off-topic, lol.

    And also....
    HEY! GFY, Masshole! :brianr:
Stay down there in your East Coast California, lol.

Edit: I would also like to see the Pyramids someday, but I'm holding out hope that things will settle down in that area some day and I can go see them then, lol. In the meantime the GF and I plan on doing traveling in-country, instead. Lots of stuff to see in the US.
