Do you need to know, or care?
The issue with lights coming on when approaching vehicle with smart key can only be changed by the dealer. It's in the manual. Box 3 is checked beside the option (Dealer only).

Main gripe is how its severely restricted when accelerating from a dead stop. It will not "jump" off the line no matter what buttons are pressed.

Only other minor gripe is what sounds like a gear whine when cruising at highway speeds and under partial throttle. Its minor, but annoying.

I just noticed the same thing... does not feel like my 2006 Taco... it would spin the shit outta the tires... this thing starts a spin and the ECU shuts down the wheel spin.... I've tried the ECT button.. still not good... might turn off the slippery rear wheel thingy button on the overhead console... Can't burn no rubber with this piece of computer controlled crap...!!

I noticed that when I went around a slippery corner and expected the rear end to slide out to the left... it did not and there's a light that flashed on the dash.. I think that's the "anti-slippy" thing...yes..??

Lol I can relate. When I drive my wife's Lexus now I'm burning rubber off the start and she's like WTF?

I never even drove my truck in the dark. Had a set of HIDs sitting here waiting for it. Had 75 miles on it I think when i swapped them out.

I think you need to turn the traction control off. At least on other cars Ive had when the slippy light comes on the ECU shuts fuel delivery off so you cant loose control. Be careful though, my buddies at dealers tell me stories of people who turn the trac control off and crash their cars.
Another thing I have noticed when stopped in gear, it feels like its in neutral then when you accelerate it goes bak in gear. They put this on our new buses where I work, its supposed to increase fuel mileage by not idling in gear.

Your picture has me curious....so if you want to change out the headunit all these settings and such are no longer changeable? Or I am guessing they can be modified via OBDII or something?

I don't own a 3rd gen but this seems inherently dumb to link the stereo so tightly with the computers.

Try tossing it into sport shift mode, drop it down to 1st to keep it there, take the traction control off, and push the ECT button.

Haven't actually done this, but if I wanted to spin the tires it's what I would try.

Ive done all of this. Sport mode, 1st. Ect engaged, and traction button pressed and held for 5 seconds. Still cant break the tires loose, but once its rolling and gets around 3k rpms it takes off.

The highway passing speed is quite good though (for a truck).

Heh, I think the wheels not breaking loose is a great thing to be honest. It's nice to not have to worry about feathering the gas taking off from a light in the rain. Seems safter to me... :notsure:

Yeah, we don't have to worry about our silly auto-locking doors, charging stations, and heated mirrors malfunctioning...

Thats why i said "no matter what buttons are pushed".

Its mildly better ,but still unable to jump off the line with authority.

The 6MT solves this issue; 1st gear is very short on the 6MT, so the V6 6MT I test drove indeed "jumped" off the line.

Really? Ha ha ha ha ha ... Thanks man. Just made my morning. Both of the Lexus (IS and RX) have them... wanna see someone try to carjack them ha ha haha

On the Lexus, the passenger side unlocks all doors while the driver only unlocks the driver.
You have to be on the side of the door for it to work... I have tried by having the wife open her own door lol

This is the one thing I'm surprised that people are complaining about. I just got my Limited last night and was amazed at how bright the headlights were. I live in an area with little to no streetlights, so it is incredible just how much it lights everything up. I'm comparing this to a 2010 SR5 Tacoma and a 2008 328xi.
