Land Cruiser owners are probably all familiar with IH8MUD.com which is owned/run by Brian "Woody" Swearingen. He has been one of the biggest sponsors and part of the Canguro Chase crew in his FZJ80 for the past two years.


The full Canguro Racing crew, except for me since I took the pic. This is all drivers/co-drivers (7 of us) and all the chase crew.

 

Now for some racing. I was able to watch the Trophy trucks, Class 1's and some buggies come in off the beach near Erindira before I would get into the race car.

Shannon Campbell in his KOTH Ultra 4. He decided two weeks earlier that he wanted to race the 1000 and he won his class on the first time racing it.

This is probably pretty boring for most but we use this to review races and correct any issues. Here is some RAW race footage starting at where I got in the race truck with Ryan Davis (driving) at Racemile 113. About an hour worth of footage in this clip.

If you watch you'll notice how poor the audio is. It started out pretty good but deteriorated quickly. We were right along the coast for the entire leg and the moisture wreaked havoc on the radio connections. The other noises you will hear is a constant clacking, that's the rear springs, it's normal. Then later on you'll hear noise from our belly skid plate that we tore off on a 4' ledge. It banged around under the truck for a while until it finally fell off. The visibility toward the end isn't great as the condensation outside got worse.

Canguro Racing is prepping for new races. The first one for us in May14 so we headed back out to our favorite desert test location to do some testing this past Saturday. It was rainy, wet, cold, windy and pretty miserable. But we were able to get a good shakedown with just some minor carnage. The truck has a new look but we're not officially showing it off just yet. We'll have some new "glamour shots" sometime this week.

Minor carnage. Sheared a couple wheel studs, one which punched a hole in the brake rotor (can you see it?). Damage means we'll be replacing the hub, the wheel studs, the rotor and a wheel that was destroyed.
