I had the trans TSB done today and I love my truck again. No more slipping and unpredictable accellerating. They also fixed my leaking tranny seal and they updated my rear leaf springs. I will ask in a separate thread, but it lifted the rear about an inch. Will it settle, and how long will that take. If it stays up there, I might do the 5100's and level it out.

My personal recommendation is to go with a service writer and tech that know their stuff. That way you can be sure your car is being taken care of properly. My service wirter knew of the problems with my truck and got everything done for me.

For those with a little faith and had theirs done, I'm glad. TSB's that come from corporate take a little while to circulate to other sites. The techs at Toyota get it first, and then it filters to the dealers, thats why some service writers don't know about it.

For those that said they would eat their BS call, would you like that on white or whole wheat bread............LMAO:D

taking mine in on Saturday to get it done. When I talked to the dealer, the SM told me to bring it on in and they'd take care of it. No problems whatsoever...

    Appointment scheduled for tomorrow...

If I get the "we can't reproduce" run around I'm gonna be pissed! But really - it's a simple reflash right? It cost nothing in parts and maybe 1 hour of labor?? I hope if they can't reproduce the problem that they'll just do it anyways.

I've already had mine done, and should have asked for a copy of the TSB then, but forgot. Does anyone have the actual printout of the TSB?

I have a 2010, and I've been paying more attention to it lately. The TSB states that the tans drops into first below 20mph. I can only get mine to drop into first if I get down around 8-9 mph. What do the 2009's experience? Do you guys notice it up closer to 20mph or down closer to 9mph? What about the guys that have 2009s and have had the TSB, how slow do you have to get before your tans will go down into first?

I took my truck in last week to get the TSB done, and the service tech said he couldn't get it to flash b/c the ecu already had the "200" software that was part of the TSB. Which indicates to me that the 2010s came from the factory with the software they are now going back and putting into the 2009s.

My experience was it was obnoxious from about 10-15 mph, above that and it didn't downshift, and below that it had to go into 1st anyway. As for when it's dropping into 1st now, I haven't spent that much time.

What is your build date? My 2010 was built in august and has the tranny issue. Mine will downshift into 1st just under 15mph. Annoying!!!!!!!!!
Honestly if they don`t fix this for the 2010`s, I may sell my truck. It`s that bad. Man i love this truck other than this issue.

Got mine done this morning. It was surprisingly easy, just told the service manager I heard there was a TSB to fix my downshifting. He found it and said no problem. It's not night and day, but its definitely more enjoyable to drive.

Well I just heard back about mine. They said when they test drove it they experienced the lag a little bit but wasn't of concern, but they were going to reflash the computer since there is a TSB for it.

Went to my dealer this morning and explained the issue I was having and that there was a recent TSB out to address it. He looked into it and sure enough, he came back with confirmation that it was available, etc. He was very helpful in checking into it and there were no problems at all with making an appointment to get it done.

So yeah, everyone with a Canadian Taco should also be good to go!

The first 2 weeks of my 2010, I noticed 2 things. At low speed (not sure , didn't look at the speedometer) after a turn, it's either not in any gear (engine reved but no go) or in 1st gear too early and too long. In the past 2 days, I tried to replicate it, I can't get it to be in "deciding" mode anymore but it still shifts to 1st gear the same way and won't upshift correctly. Did it actually "learn" the driving style? or the fix was put in the 2010s and 09s were much worst?

I finally got an appointment to bring it in, after 3 messages, about 10 phone calls, and a week. Acutally went down on my day off and asked.

They were like, sure bring it in, but you have to replicate the problem, can't just get a TSB.

I'm calling BS on them if they give me that crap. Should I go after having called the Toyota number and getting it preapproved, or just smile and nod and take it somewhere else if they give me flak?

I called the dealer mentioned the TSB and said he would call back he did 5 mins later and booked appointment. TSB took an hour and now the truck runs so much better I can't believe the difference. My salesman came by said Hi and asked why I was there told him and he nothing of the TSB he said he has had many customer complaints on this and he was glad it was finally being taken care of.

No need to have a printout. The TSB # is 0373-09.
The SA should be able to look that up in their system.
