The back seat in AC is totally useless. In the 8 years I've owned my truck, I've never used the back seats except one or two unplanned times. They guy i stuffed back there was miserable! LOL! I've always kept them folded down since day one and have a Husky tray liner back there so I can toss stuff back there that I don't want rolling around in the bed. The LB for me is a must have. If I need to haul people around, i use my car.

i always like access+long bed but for the first time i ordered a 2016 double with a short bed so lets see how that goes....reason i order double because i was thinking ahead that my family might grow and would need the extra cab space

Yes they made a trail teams for 2014 and 2015, see my profile pic.
I went to the dealer took the truck for a drive set it where i wanted it and hoped in the back i had decent room. Seats all the way back not so much.
I am approx 5'11"-6' not tall but i like to sit back and be comfortable,
i go skiing with my bros every weekend and camping alot, access just seems to small.

You can't really compare a full size f150 to a Tacoma. Your never gonna get great leg room unless it's damn near 25 feet long

You'll be fine with a double cab.

An access cab with child seats or adults is.. well.. it sucks ass.

    Workin' on it....
When I was shopping for a Tacoma I really wanted to get a brand new 2015 but was looking at the access cab to reduce my monthly car payment. I ended up getting a 2013 used double cab with 24000 miles on it for several thousand cheaper than the 2015 access cab. Best decision I ever made.

I just traded an 06 AC that I loved. Actually ordered another one that Toyota would not accept the order for. Ended up with a DC and think it's the way to go if you don't need the long bed. I am also not fond of what they did to the back of the new AC with the seats and head rests. I don't have kids and family to haul around so the old 06 AC was great. Really loving the new one.

Not sure why Tacoma does not sell the TRD Sport DCLB in the US. I wanted the DC OR LB but no can do up here. We only get the AC LB no DCLBOR so I ended up with a TRD Sport DCLB.

that another reason i went DC! the bench style like how it was in my 2007 was perfect. fold down those small seats and you had a nice platform to put stuff like my big tool box that i kept on one side. the new style they tried to actually make a seat out of it which is silly when their isnt any room to begin with. Only people that buy a AC is to put their junk in the back.

Love the looks, but not a fan of what they did to the back.

on the 2016? It looks like the seat bottoms fold up? It looks like some sort of center console there too. I like how the rear seats flip out/down leaving a flat area. I have a husky liner made to fit right on top of the flat area.

I liked the old style seats that flipped down to make a large flat area. Also no rear headrests on the 06. The new ones are bolted into the truck.

    Loving my new Taco.

    I'm so torn.

I get an allowance for my job and had a 2010 ram crew cab (my first truck) and fell in love. Work pays my gas too but was tired of paying $1500/month for my gas and wanted me in a car. Traded my Ram at 140k. I drive about 45k miles a year.

I miss my truck dearly. I loved the size of the cab having plenty of room for adults. Sitting up and having a bed to use when I needed. I sell fire protection (construction) so I'm on job sites regularly.
I kind of fell In love with the Colorado when it came out because I thought I could get it in my garage and I could have a bed again even though I'd sacrifice the interior space.

Now that the Tacoma is out I prefer it in every way to the Colorado. Drove a sport 2wd LB for the first time today. Loved driving it. Plenty of space i. The front seat. Could see the ease in Using it around town, downtown, at the mall and fits in the garage. The full size, while oh so nice inside room wise, is hard to get around downtown Nashville and in tight parking lots. Won't fit in garage, so a lot of cold mornings coming.

But damn, if the Tacoma isn't tight In The back seat. I'm 6' 230 and moved my seat comfortably then sat in the backseat. Not where I'd want to spend much time.

    Damn compromises. Torn.

Got to ask yourself "how much back seat passenger stuff" are you really doing? Personally, I was torn between LB and SB. The LB DC adds about 13" to the truck. I love the midsize for the reasons you stated.

Full sized trucks are just HUGE these days. I don't need that and like being able to park my Taco easily.

I have 2 kids. 10 and 4 and that wouldn't be so bad on them, but I haul customers to lunch often and I don't want to be the guy (that I am now with my maxima) where they'd rather drive themselves or meet me there, than sit in my back seat.
