Yeah well those new refs are a whole different story, they can't get a damn thing right. From spotting the ball to calling penalties they have been terrible. Heck they conferred for like 5 minutes over a holding call in the Broncos Pats game

Yeah, agreed. I actually was at the Pats/Bills game the week before, and they were terrible.

Yeah I watched that game. The call on Sammy Watkins catch was one of the worst I've ever seen. Horrible

How did they miss that clipping call on the final play?

Sure glad I picked up Rodgers (the TE) today! Oh wait, do you guys talk about fantasy in here? If not, go Broncos.

The Packers playcalling and design is so shitty this year, I honestly don't think they belong in the post-season, even though they could well end up there.

    *incoming long-assed rant*

There's a couple issues right now. Three, off the top of my head.

First, Dom Capers. His hybrid 'man outside, zone inside' base defense only works well when you have 3 or more legit Pro-Bowlers in the back 5 of the D. If you only have, say, one or 2, you're fucked. Like, ya know, now. Plus, he's gotten HORRIBAD in his calling and blitzing. Awful. It's pathetic we have Clay Matthews STILL playing over a third of his snaps at ILB. PATHETIC.

Part of this fail goes to Ted Thompson. I love his draft and develop system and steady approach, but he needs to make more use of free agency. I'm not saying to Go Full Snyder or anything....but, name me two FA acquisitions in the last 10 years not named Charles or Peppers. Hell, name me one, for that matter. Best player available only works when you don't have lingering, long standing GLARING holes in your roster (i.e. a proper strong safety, for instance) and can compete with the other 10 guys on the field.

Second: Not enough credit was given to Jordy. When he is healthy, the #1 CB and FS (at minimum!) are effectively out of the rest of the play on every gorram snap. One of the reasons Cobb was so awesome is that he's only dealt with #3 or #4 DBs up to this point, who he can run circles around. Plus, at best you're looking at only 7 in the box at that point, so the oline has it a LOT easier and the running game looks GREAT. Look at Lacy last year! Even Starks!

NOW: Davante can't catch a cold, Abrederis and Montgomery can't stay healthy, we have no TEs for shit, and Cobb is getting stuck with the other teams #1 or at worst #2 DB, who shut him down as often as not. And that's WITH an extra man in the box to stuff the run because a single can win against Cobb, leaving the other safety to support the run or blitz. This here part leads to problem 3.

Third: Playcalling and in-game adjustments. Dear gods, take me now, but what I wouldn't give to have McCarthy back calling plays. When he called plays, the defense sucked and the speshul teams was ass, but the offense scored 30+ a game, so who cares?

NOW, we have a sucky defense, speshul teams that are a little better, and an offense that isn't working. WHY?

Aaron can't do this alone. His oline is only OK, he makes it look a lot better extending plays and improvising. If they could get a center and maybe a decent RT we'd be better. Frankly, even a good blocking TE would be a start.

But as we covered above, there's more rush now, 8 guys in the box stuffing the run, and as such the play action isn't getting you any breaks. Cobb doesn't get open enough, Adams can't catch, and where are you going to go with the ball now, when your RB is staying in to block all the time?

This comes down to playcalling. If Clements and Bennett would get their thumbs out of each others' asses, perhaps we'd not be in trouble. For SOME reason, it looks to me like they're intentionally NOT using man-beating concepts in the playcalling and designing. A trips or bunch formation to one side forces the defense to briefly back out of press-man coverage and wait for the guys to get out into the patterns a bit. Which is exactly what the receivers AREN'T able to do without Jordy pulling the 2 best DBs off the back of the defense.

When you use natural route trees that work with each other to force man coverage to react, such as with complementary crosses and unders, trips releases, motions pre-snap, etc, you can force the defense to allow your sub-par receivers to actually have a few steps of freedom. I've seen a handful of these plays called by accident this season, and they've WORKED. But for some reason, even though I'm just a schmuck on the internet, I can seem to see this in the All 22 tape and watching the Game Rewind stuff, yet they apparently fucking can't.

It absolutely infuriates me to see one of Aaron's prime years being wasted like this.

Last nights' game in Detroit was abysmal. They didn't deserve the W, honestly. That was TERRIBLE playcalling. The players did they best they could with what was called, but Bennett and Clements need to fucking GO.

Stopped watching 3rd quarter because I have Aaron Rodgers in one of my leagues and was pissed he wasn't getting anything done. Then I check my fantasy later that night and get pleasantly surprised :dancingbacon:. Then watched the highlights. WOW!

Real quick I know this isn't a fantasy thread, but for my other league: Russell Wilson vs MIN or Blake Bortles vs TEN?

Wilson just came off a strong win. I think the Vikings were going to have a good game with Peterson. Wilson will more than likely have a decent to good game. I'd take him over bortles

Minnesota has a much better D than the Tits though. I'd go Bortles personally, were it me

This is true. I'm just not that impressed with bortles. A lot of interceptions.
