Just as a heads up for anyone. The other day I had the sun hit that perfect spot and I noticed I had a huge thumb print on the screen behind my plastic in the gauges.

It's obviously an assembly mistake but just if anyone else wanted to check theirs I figured I would post about it. I know warranty will after it but I didn't notice it until now. I am guessing my builder had a really awesome lunch and the left evidence for me to see.

I basically held a light on an angle and grabbed his picture because unless it hits that spot you actually can't see it at all. On a nice sunny day I am reminded of it. Especially now that I know it's there.

First world problems...Personally I would not let the dealer take apart the dash at this point, That's a pretty large magnification. Not sure how you even noticed it. If it is a fingerprint,

    ^ what he said.

Zero chance I would let the dealer touch the dash unless necessary.

That being said, it would drive me nuts as well. But after sometime I would get past it.

    That would drive me nuts!

I'd have that apart the next free weekend, even if the whole dash had to come out!

I would agree about pulling it apart at this point in it's life. However its actually very large, like at least 70 percent of the screen. It's over cast and dark and I needed a picture to show the dealer simply because it's has to be sunny and shinning in the truck basically at sunrise or dusk. How much of a pain would that be to show them.

So I took this picture to at least prove to them I am not crazy so they can easily see it's there on some level. What I haven't shown yet is how not only is it a thumb print it's dragged down the entire length of the screen. It's 100 percent a finger print, I could open a thumb print scanner door it's so clear that's what it is.

As I said, I only noticed it when the sun was out and driving home from riding the other day. I never saw it until this point because I am usually at work and it's darker when I come home. I was seeing if it would go away more over time just from the screen heat but it's done the opposite, it's become more apparent.

Would you be OK with a huge finger print in the center of your TV? likely not and I bet it wasn't a 45K tv. ;) I bought a new truck with warranty for this reason. So if they screw it up, which I doubt they will then I just get them to fix it. I am not worried.

That sucks. I bet you stare at it all the time now even if you can't see it. Sort of like a door ding. Or like smelling your hand repeatedly if it stinks.

Like Tacobella said, I don't know if I would let the dealer take the whole dash apart. But it seems like it bothers you pretty badly, so go for it. I would probably tackle it myself, out of fear that the tech at the dealer would do something worse.

Kinda looks to me like a glove's grip pattern...

I doubt the entire dash has to come apart but if so and they break a tab then it's on them, if I do then it's on me, which I prefer them paying for.

I kid you not I had a very Similar problem with my current rig. I have a 2005 toyota tundra access cab I bought new in 2004.

I cleaned my front windshield 100 times trying to get rid of a palm print. Took it to my dealer who made me take it to a detail shop to figure out what I already knew.

I had a palm print between the two shields of glass. A worker a king the windshield must have touched the laminate.

Now normally I would not complain, but this print was right straight in front of my eyes. It was so distracting I just couldn't take it. It was 6 years old at the time and they still replaced it. So much better

The IP is assembled off site by a supplier. Shitty regardless. I'd take it in to be made right.
