At that point you might as well step up into the fullsize. Price is going to be insane...and it's just going to be cosmetics that's going to be different..interior/exterior. Possibly new 8 speed auto or something. I was just on toyotas website building a tacoma..i built a 2016 tacoma TRD OR DCLB and I built a 2016 tundra TRD PRO and the price was only like a 4k difference. You get so much more truck in my opinion for not that much more money.

Tell that to the people who are gonna be putting a money down to reserve their Canyon Denali's this year. Just because folks have money doesn't mean they want a full size truck. That is why the Colorado Diesel is going to be near $45k.

One can never have too many light bars.
Lincoln/Ford tried this... and failed miserably. I doubt they will ever actually do this. It's way more cost effective/ efficient to just make a premium version of the tacoma /tundra.

I guess if GM can be successful with it, I can't see why Toyota cant't...I just certainly wouldn't unless there was actually a major difference other than cosmetics. I just can't help but laugh at whoever decides to buy the Canyon Denali with a diesel...I can't imagine how much money that's going to cost not only up front, but down the road.

True but it is also cost-effective to slap a Lexus badge on a Tacoma and sell it for a whole lot more money. People are spending lots of money for trucks right now. The industry is taking note.

This assumes that people are buying midsize trucks solely because they cost less than a full size truck. That is the case for some but I promise you that there are others, like me, that simply do not want a full size truck. I find them too big, harder to load anything in the bed, harder to park, too heavy, etc... It doesn't suck that the 2016 Tacoma I have on order has an MSRP $16,000 less than a comparably optioned F-150 but price was not the major factor in me choosing a new Taco. I think the Tacoma is the perfect size and it still carries my family in comfort, hauls my ATV and tows my camper while being fun to drive every day.

I love all the luxury features and would totally consider a midsize Lexus truck. All it needs is +30 HP, +50 lbs-ft and keep a manual transmission option.

I paid a smidgen over $ 41K cash out the door for my Tacoma, and I paid this premium specifically for a midsize truck. I could have gotten a cheaper full-size but wanted the smaller truck.

Yup, I would definitely consider such a truck...depending on looks and how much the price bump is.

in my opinion I don't see why any body would want a luxury pickup? it defeats the purpose of a pickup? they are made to work with and to haul shit not go on vacation, they have luxury cars for that.the only reason we buy pickups are for working the hell out of on the ranch /farm and when we go to church or out of town to the city we take the caddy or whatever you have? don't make sense to me to buy a pickup that you want people top take their shoes off just to get in it? nonsense.

If people want a luxury vehicle they'll buy a car or SUV, not a pick up, although some still do lol

I don't think that is the Lexus concept. It looks just like a current Hilux.

If it had a better engine, and I could fit in it with moonroof, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Provide nice luxury items like the lx460 compared to 4runner. Instead have to buy up into Tundra, even though don't really want/need a truck that big. Actually, the Colorado has everything I want...except it has that bowtie on it, and consumer reports bssically states stay away from it on their recent reliability report. Quality of Colorado parts/interior nowhere close to Lexus. I doubt Lexus will do this though.

Exactly.... In the past 30 years I owned a small truck, I could probably count on one hand how many times I wish I had a fullsize.
