For some people it makes sense. For others not at all.
I want a truck for the 4x4 reason + added cargo space. But regardless with the winters here and just the roads around the cottage, I need a 4x4. Having FWD does not do. and having RWD wouldn't either. Not for all year round. Fine in the summer not so good in the winter.

If I had a 4x4 I feel like I would be doing stupid stuff with a $35K vehicle. At least with my 4x2 I know I have limit. When I went to the dealership I was confused when I saw the 4x2 TRD OR w/Elock. Maybe people prefer the OR ride over the Sport stiffer ride.

Thats a good thing to keep people like you from being created in the first place.....

I drove in snow in NJ all RWD cars and trucks, and Branson Never needed a 4WD. Only time I had one was in Vegas in the 90s when I actually used it to go off road and even then I didn't put it in 4 LO much. Its a "compensation" thing.....

A limp dick few who have 4X4s are very concerned that the 16s mud flaps don't say as much so they have to find a place to advertise their little dicks whether a sticker, chrome plastic thing or splattered on their useless mud flaps..."Hey everyone, I got a 4WD I am ready for the Zombie Apocalypse".

Funny thing is when it did snow in the Ozarks, the vehicles in the ditches were usually 4WDs

Fixed. They are advertising that they have tiny dicks and trying to over compensate for it.

And you see more 4x4s in the ditches because many think just because they have 4x4 means they can drive like an ass clown.
having 4x4 in the snow can be very helpful when starting and getting out of any place you're stuck. For me my street doesn't get plowed for at least 2-3 days after a good snowfall. So having 4x4 would help greatly. But regardless best thing in the snow is having the right tires, and ground clearance definitely won't hurt lol.

So...let me get this straight. You people are saying that if you have a 2WD your dick is small. But some of you are saying that if you have a 4x4 your dick is small. o_O

Just tryin' to figure out how a got such an enormous Johnson then. :notsure:

Welcome to Tacomaworld. Threads get off topic quick lmao.

    :stayontopic:

Look online you'll find tons of memes of trucks, where its a lifted truck with huge tires etc and it says nice truck dude, sorry about your dick.
Common assumption anyone with a big truck is just trying to compensate for something. To be fair I have seen more short guys get out of massive trucks than I have tall guys lol.

Some guys just feel the need to look like that alpha male though and have 4x4 etc. Usually the ones that have a 4x4 with big tires and lift etc but never does anything besides go to the mall and grocery store. the kind of guys that call all their friends their boys and think coors light is the best beer in the world.

Me, I just want 4x4 because where I live we get shit weather and my area never gets plowed. Plus I like camping and wheeling so meh.

desert and baja are probably the only place it would be ok.
any rock crawling, mud or just trails, you'd need 4x4. So I guess all depends where you live and what you do with the truck.

I drove both and the OR was much more in my lane. I was set on getting the TRD trim level, just happened to be the OR that I connected with.

I'm all for 4x4, but there's a time and place....neither of which where in my foreseeable future.

Correct. If you see a prerunner model in Canada it was bought in the US. You do see the XRunner (street 2WD lowered style) & base model 2WD in Canada though. Dealer lots here stock mostly the 4x4 in AC or DCLB.

Mines in the shop too and I got a fully loaded hybrid cam XLE from the dealership and this thing hauls ass like you wouldn't believe. Rides very nice...still shocked....the dealership hasn't called me back with an update.

Ooh yeah, the topic, the cam is not a 4x4...can you believe that shit?!

This RWD vs 4x4 debate brings out the worst in people.
It's the truck-world-equivalent of the auto vs manual sports car debate.

Personally, I think a lot of the debate comes from 4x4 people expressing their self-imposed superiority. It's generally arrogant, with little room for appreciating the position of other people. Some people don't have the money, some people don't have the care, some people don't have the option. It doesn't matter to 4x4 Fred though, because he objectively bought the more capable vehicle. He's better than you, and you're an idiot for buying RWD. This also speaks to a very common trend in our world today. We don't care about learning proper function, we don't care about skill level, we don't care about true needs, we care about buying the nicest and newest thing possible. And we think that if we own a certain item, we inherently & regularly know how to use that item. I.e. the kid that buys an AR15 and thinks he's rambo, or the hipster that buys the newest fastest macbook pro and only uses it for Buzzfeed/Twitter. You know that reaction people have when someone pulls out a flip phone? That look of horror? It's still fully capable of it's intended purpose (to call people), but there's more capable phones out there that can even watch movies! Why would your broke stupid ass buy a flip phone?! Shame on you! I own RWD and 4x4 Tacos. I've driven the RWD one in every condition of the Maryland area for years. Even when the roads are shut down by the government for snow safety. If you have advanced control, and you don't have exceptional barriers like a 20deg-incline unplowed driveway or live in the mountains of Vermont, snow is no issue. Most people don't have that control though. They need 4x4. But just because you bought it, doesn't always mean you're more capable. Let alone, a better person.

I don't think anyone is bashing 2WD itself, just questioning why there is a model specifically called "Off-Road" that has a 2WD option. I must admit, it has always struck me funny. Just call it something else.
