Has anyone recently had the Toyota Undercoating applied to their frame? What is a review on the product... is it worth it, or just fluid film?

Also, for the guys who have had the dealer undercoating for years, how has it held up?

    Thanks in advance!

I say NO on the toyota spray. I do use fluid film on my frame regularly, and my frame looks good. I have an 08 DC sport.

The thing to keep in mind about asphalt undercoatings, is that they need to be maintained. If they aren't maintained, they dry out, let salty water in, and the frame rusts out under them. This type of undercoating works well with a regular regimen of oil coatings. Oil sprayed regularly on an asphalt undercoating will keep the asphalt soft/flexible, prevent shrinking, and seal in any small voids that would otherwise allow salt/contamination in to the metal.

From what I have been hearing it was not really a cure all.

I did try and get a sample of this Spray that was supposed to save the world but my dealer would not give any up.

Trucks that have been treated are having frames rust out. Then one never knows just how diligent some employees might be in the applying of the spray.

Then one never knows is this the type of owner that goes to quicky Mart for oil changes .

My Truck is 15 years old I expect some issues living in the Great Liquid Brine Belt

    x2

Another 08 here...i've seen 2010s and 2012s with more rust than my annually fluid filmed frame.

So far, all I have is Surface rust.

Here you can see the film applied on the right, VS what the rest of the frame looks like on the left. image.jpg

Fluid Film is usually $5-7 a can and it takes me about 1.5-2 cans to do the whole frame/skid plates/suspension. I apply it once a year. However, It does wear off in about 5-6 months...so I should start doing it twice a year....
