My catalytic converter was stolen at work today. Dealer wants $2477 to replace. Does anyone have a spare they can sell me? 4cyl reg cab pre runner. I will post more later I am on my phone. Thanks guys.

**UPDATE***Here are some pics incase anyone wanted to see. I was lucky enough that a co-worker got a really good description of some guys he saw in the parking lot driving up and down the each row. Of course they had temp tags on the truck. It happened between noon and 4:00pm. I took off early to take my wife out for her birthday and go to start my truck and it sounds like there is a Harley under my truck. I turn it off and knew from reading post about catalytics being stolen what had happened. I look under my truck and confirm. On top of this I also locked my keys in my truck. I have never done that and I am sure I was not think clearly at this point. They took the down stream O2 sensor that was attached but left the upstream. I am going to look over the thread on a deturant plate to try and keep this from happening again. My neighbors son in law is a sales manager at a local Toyota dealership and is going to try and get a discount on the parts. I also called TRDparts4you and is is just over $1500 for the pipe with the converter plus the O2 sensor. The $2477 price quote was with both sensors. My insurance company will cover it but I have to pay my deductable and take time out of my day and move my schedule around. Thank god I can work from home while I get this fixed.

Pic of where the manifold meets the mid pipe.

    Pretty much stock
tell that dealer to F off...the part itself that they want to replace is about 1200 bucks. so they want like a grand to R/R 4 bolts????

go to a muffler shop and have them weld on a high flow cat for about 200 bucks.

You might want to kick the service advisor in the nuts for even offering the service at that price.

Man that sucks. I hope they catch and flog the jack-hole that did it to you. Sounds like an idea for a new thread, any good way to secure it somehow?

Dude, yeah...just get a normal cat and have it welded in. Maybe a high flow cat even; you might be able to get some performance gain out of it. This might be the best time to do a header mod if there ever was one.

I'm really sorry to hear about your cat being stolen. I am troubled by this disturbing tweaker behavior.

Here is a nice thread from a fellow TW member ph16drive who fabricated a theft deterrent plate for his Tacoma. Check his thread out here: --> My way to stop cat theft

Not only are our tacos a target, but large power utility companies are having to defend their infrastructure from criminals as well.
