What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I forget the trick/technique but there seems to be a magic tackiness when you should peel off.

May need toothpicks also to get the finer details out of the letters.

This is also assuming you applied the dip correctly in appropriate conditions (temp/humidity/etc)

Hmm... Well Maby I should give it 20 or so minutes... It's still pretty wet... Worst case is that it's dry and I have to scratch it all off instead of peel it

This is a breakdown of the steps.

• Clean the surface
• Mask off area. Leave about a quarter of an inch between the emblem and the masking tape. this will make peeling the excess Plasti Dip off much easier.
• Spray on first light coat will be about 50% coverage then wait 15 minutes (avoid doing in direct sun light)
• apply next 3 coats. These coats can be slightly heavier Wait 15 minutes in between coats.
• wait 30 minutes after last coat then remove masking tape.
• Peel off excess Plasti Dip around emblems (the more Plasti Dip around the emblem the easier it is to peel off) and wipe off any over spray.

That's what I needed!!!! BEFORE I started

 

I used those blue silicone hoses and I had to change them to fuel or tranny vacume hoses. The silicone hoses are to soft and flexible. They cavitated and cut of air flow especially when they got warmer. They look good but don't work for shit.

Added a Viper keyless entry, alarm, remote start, and GPS tracker to the truck.

DIY? I'm hoping to put one in soon minus the alarm. Wondering how much work it is for our trucks

 

I'm not sure. I know a guy that works at our local audio store so he had his guys do the install for free for me.

But it did take them 5 hours to do, so I imagine if it's your first time doing one it'd take a while.

 

Why does everyone have special hookups for this stuff and not me

I'll say though, if you're going to do the GPS and the remote start you might as well add in the alarm. I'm not sure if you can do the GPS without the alarm with the Viper. Unless you were going to do like a separate GPS thing.

 

I'm gonna guess you have to buy the whole socket assembly I highly doubt they sell those seperate. But hey never know

 

I'll keep that in mind. I wasn't aware there was a gps feature with viper stuff. I've just always wanted a remote start.

 

That's what I had previously, just keyless entry and remote start.

 

I have been looking in to adding one myself. Did you go with the Smart Start?
