anybody know how much an OEM headlamp would run? I have started to take mine apart for paint and made the mistake of reheating the lens only to try to get mode glue off and now it warped. Probably gonna need a new one, curious how much this mistake will hurt

Oh my. I'm so sorry for you that this happened! Plastic can be so damn fickle. Hoping someone can offer some good advice.

Damn...this one hits home a bit. I ruined a headlight in the oven last year. $700 new from the dealership. It was a bi-xenon projector with LED drl's so maybe a bit more than a taco replacement but none the less. Ended up getting a used one on eBay for $200 and replaced the lens which is what I was doing in the first place (among other things) when I melted the oem housing.

Best of luck op. Be prepared for a sting to the wallet.

Yeah unfortunately I doubt there's gonna be a used one out there this early. Tomorrow I'm gonna get with a buddy who has painted over 200 sets of headlights and see what we can figure out. He had never done this even with all his reps lol so not much of a plan yet

Yeah lol found out they are more durable than the lens. I guess by them self they have no structural integrity.

Yeah been trying it. Actually started to melt the housing this time. Not bad but it did. It's close together but I don't know if the angles will be right or if it will seal.

Maybe talk to the stealership erhm I mean, dealership you got it from? It may hurt the wallet but good lessons learned I'm betting.

Yeah I gonna give them a call and the Dallas on someone posted above. I know some dealers love selling parts and keeping their sales high so they will give way better deal just to sell number of items instead of making a lot on a few.

I don't think they have any extras right now. They are using all available parts to build new trucks.

Also, why do you want to paint your headlights?

Pardon my stupidity but why would you put a headlamp in the oven?

to disassemble the headligh, (seperates the lens from the housing).... after that, the sky is the limit........ paint the housing or add LED's, retrofit a HID, bedazzle the housing, put a fishtank in there....... etc.
