I'll bet that this is a Drive By Wire computer problem. The floor mats campaign is buying time till the computer glitch is solved. I sure wish there was a law against DBW. It feels fake and it hard to modulate your clutch pedal at times. Just no feel. More isolation is not a good thing when it comes to controlling your vehicle IMO.

No no....leave the ignition on and put the truck in NEUTRAL! If you turn off the engine you'll lose the use of the brakes and risk locking the steering column.

Only if you pull the key out.

Honestly, the letter goes over all this in great detail. As do the other dozen threads per week started on the subject.

And with an Auto Trans it has to be in park to get the key out.
Steering and braking will be harder with out assist but they STILL WORK.
Am I the only old fart here that actually learned to drive without power steering or power disc brakes?:D

Yeah, the guy that posted a thread on the EXACT SAME THING an hour before you got his letter in the mail. Also the 50 other threads on this topic have some good leads on who got a letter.

    Me too.
The idea of driving without a mat until Toyota figures it out during a Vermont winter doesn't work for me.

Got mine the other day. Says the problem doesn't exist with floormats that are "compatible with the Tacoma and properly secured." Not worried. I put in Weathertechs the day I got it.

Got my letter in yesteday. I looked at my truck and the pedal is a few inches away from the floormat. It would seriously have to be bunched up to interfere with the pedal.

It came today. What a waste of RESOURSES for such a stupid letter. All they are trying to do is cover their -s-.
    I think it is computer/electrical.
