I shot a Sony A77x today. Was fun. Raw stuff looks good on a laptop. Was shooting at 6400iso too indoors in a low lit jazz club. Hoping the results are good.

 

Wouldnt be my first welding project. Ill get it all designed out in cardboard or sketchup first. Wish i still had access to solidworks.

Also this should help on the next trip. No more ice stops every chance there is.

 

Hey guys its been a while since I've been on here. i have question that I'm hoping you guys will have an answer for. I need to find the trim piece for the stereo and a/c controls. Well actually I need the a/c controls too. My 97 had the slide style a/c and the dreadful slideout cupholder. My question is will all of that stuff from a 98-04 work/fit in my 97?

 

Sorry, don,t know the answer. But I do know that Toyota liked to change up shit like that.

Yeah I know they like to do that, but I also never trust the guys at the dealers. Like when the swore that the mirrors from a 98+ would not fit on my 97, and guess what happened when I tried it for myself.

 

They will fit. But the main issue is how they work.

Our 95-97s use cables to run all of the heater/ac stuff. Minus the fan slider switch.

the 98-04s are all electronic dials.

So you basically need to get the whole cable setup, not sure what you're missing excatly, hopefully the cables are still there. The center routing section for the air for instance is either cable run or electronic servors. You'd have to tear the entire dash out to swap that out to get the dials and im not sure about the wiring.

Just an FYI: the two pieces you mentioned go by "center dash trim" and "climate control face plate."

Short answer is: Not really.

Aside from what you already mention, I think your biggest issue is going to be the fact that your 1997 ashtray/cig lighter are built into your lower dash piece where as the 98-04 trucks have the ashtray and cig lighter built into the center dash trim. The 95-97 center dash trim seems to "clip" into the top of your lower dash trim (above the ashtray and cig lighter) whereas the 98-04 actually has a screw mount below the ashtray in that little cubby. So if you were to buy the 98-04 center dash trim, you'd have to modify it (read: dremel/cut it) and somehow ensure it fastens to the lower dash trim.

I would expect it's not worth your time or effort.

Monte, and Madjik_Man thanks for the replies.. I think I'll just get the original pieces for my truck. That is way more involved than I wanted to do. Monte, after Christmas I will start putting the Raisin back together.
